At the 2009 National Sudoku Championship in Philadelphia, US and World Sudoku Champion Thomas Snyder goes for the $10,000 first prize but writes way too fast in the closing seconds and makes a mistake. Three minutes later, Tammy McLeod would turn in a correct grid to win the tournament and a spot on the US Sudoku Team. Also of note, third place finisher Eugene Varshavsky, seen here in his hooded sweatshirt motionless in front of his grid, was suspected of cheating earlier in the tournament, particularly after he could only place three digits after 8 minutes in the finals.
