Here's a few facts on baking; sugar will cook your eggs if left for long. Adding flour and liquid alternately will tenderize your cake. Never use a strong tasting oil like olive oil or lard for fat. Butter adds fat and that little bit of liquid. Cream fat and sugar first for about 5 minutes or until you can't feel sugar granules when you rub it between your fingers. Alcohol cooks off when baked or cooked. Always sieve all dry ingredients, lumps do not disappear. Tips from a commercial baker.

My Mother's Major Was Home Economics. She Was A Great Cook And Definitely A Great Seamtress. I Learned A Lot About Cooking From Her And Quality Of Clothing, When It Comes To Choosing Fabrics For Sewing Designer Clothes. Her Favorite Cake To Bake Was Her Favorite Pineapple Coconut Cake. She Always Had To Bake With Swanns Cake Flour. I Am Proud To Say Every Year From 7th grade To 12th Grade I Took Homemaking In School Every Year. I Was Always The Best Cook Each Year In School .Learned Great Recipes That I Still Use Today , But , Have Revised My Way. I Never Cook By Recipes , Nor Do I Measure When I Cook. I'm Not A Baker , But , I Can Bake. Just Prefer Cooking More. Baking Is Time Consuming And Uses A Lot Of Dishes To Wash At The End To Wash . lol...I'm Known To Be The Excellent Cook In The Family !! I Can Relate To Your Love For Cooking. You're A Treasure , And One Of A Kind Cook , Which You Teach Well. My Mother Is A Retired Educator , Which Has Alzheimer's Now. She Is 90yrs. old.I Care For Her Now. When I Cook And She Eats , She Always Compliments Me With The Food I Cook Each Day. So , That's An A+ In My Books From Her. You're Just As Sweet As That 7up Cake !! You're Definitely Blessed And A Wonderful Mom . Love You Soulfult !!

It's so much better learning how to cook things with someone who truly enjoys doing so and invites you into their kitchen to learn versus the uptight channels...those people zap the joy of cooking and are boring and robotic where you have the opposite effect...really love your channel!

Did this cake as requested for Thanksgiving this year and that cake was GONE ! Thank you for sharing this recipe ! I never made a cake from scratch until now. I thought it was going to be tedious and time consuming but it wasn’t as bad as I thought and I didn’t want the store 7 Up cake. It was really good and not nearly as sweet/syrup tasting as the stores. Really recommend for whoever is reading the comments

Darn it girl. It's midnight and now I'm hungry. I'm diabetic, but I think I'm going to make this cake for my youngest grandsons birthday party next weekend. Have you ever made Amaretto cake? same basic recipe, but you put vanilla pudding in the mix, and instead of 7 up you use oil and Amaretto. Chunks of butter, brown sugar and almonds go in the bunt pan before the batter. Oh My Good Lord IN Heaven!

Hi, I'm a new fan of SoulfulT, from Finland. Thank you for your channel, which is one of my favourite food channels. The atmosphere with you guys talking and doing your thing is so heart-warming, so I hope you keep it exactly the way it is! I was looking for a new cake recipe to try, and watching this video just realized that this cake recipe is very close to the one I usually do, only with a difference of the main taste (lemon). I shall definitely be doing the next cakes with this recipe, since I love lemon, and this looks so delicious! In case you would like to try mine (actually it is from an old book), just replace the lemon flavor in the batter with cardamom, and bake the cake in a low pan. Then put almost all the mix in the pan, put a good layer of apple sauce on the batter (maybe also few raspberries for color) and then put the rest of the batter on top in lumps around the pan. Baking time and temperature approximately as with your cake. Best wishes and thanks to your team and your lovely family!

I wanted 2 send u something & saw that someone else already sent u a nice set of pots/pans! I would also like a Q&A w/ Brandon, asking him about being g his mom's camera man, his relationship w/ his mom, & what he has learned from you in life & in cooking tips. That would b another "great" video! ( Notice, I used ur word "great" & I get the biggest kick out of it whenever u say it. Ms. Grace😊
