In this video you can learn how to make a small version of a DC motor using everyday life materials.
You can visit our online catalogue to see all the electric motors manufacturers : www.jaescompany.com/
DC motors have been around for more than 140 years, and they are still used today
This type of motor is a rotary electrical device which converts electrical power into mechanical power. It was the first widely used, since it could be powered from existing direct-current lighting power distribution systems.
If you ever wonder how DC motors are able to convert electrical power into mechanical power, well, this video will be very useful for you.
There’s no better way to understand the functioning of a DC motor by buiding one!
No, I’m not kidding! In this video you can learn how to build a simple version of a DC motor with everyday life materials, such as: a syringe (seruing), an iron rod with 13 cm in lenght and a diameter of 2 mm (which we had previously cut from an old clothes hanger), 0.25 mm copper wire, 1.5 mm copper wire, some screws, 4-hole angle brackets, some glue, two magnets, a power supply (in this case a batteries holder with cables and clamps).
When the electricty flows through the coils, an electromagnetic field is created. This means that the electricity has temporarily turned coils into a magnet. In this scheme the upper coil represents our North pole, so it will be attracted to the South pole of the magnet on the right. On the contrary, the lower coil represents our South pole, so it will be attracted to the North pole of the magnet on the left, allowing a clockwise motion of our DC motor.

Grazie in anticipo e buona giornata

It took me days to find a good video on how a DC motor works a lot of videos that waste your time. Don’t explain anything. Thank you very much. I like Dan subscribed.

The Presentation of a construction of the DC motor. Better than even the animated videos. The explanations were equally as informative. Just go to be sure as to why about 9:25 in the video, you wrap the copper wire around the 3rd bracket to the right. You mentioned to get a 90 degree angle. I guess it's due to the rotation of the armature and the next connection that the brushes needs to make.

Thank you for this, I've been having issues in building my own dc motor. The main reason is the wiring of the coils to the commutator.

I’m confused when you tie of the input and the output wires. You say not around it’s upper copper bracket but the next one to it’s left creating a 90 degree angle. Then you say the output is not to be around its upper bracket but the third to it’s right creating a 90 degree angle. They both can’t be 90 degrees if they are indeed both 90 degrees then something is off cause the input only moves one and output moves 3. So what’s the right answer?

Would it not just short circuit without using some kind of insulation on your coils
@brayanzuniga11
@brayanzuniga11 2 жыл бұрын
The coils seem to be insulated in a thin enamel. Also the tip of the syringe (the pieces shaped like “L’s”) are all making contact with each other after they are stripped, that’s the part I can’t wrap my head around.
@slimknight_
@slimknight_ Жыл бұрын
it is essentially "shorting" but there is enough natural resistance in the long length of thin wire in each coil

if there is a coil and enough turns and enough volt to the coils then that is imposible to say no magnetic field. You can test each coil before install give voltage each side end bring close compass near it you will see the magnetic deviation on the compass. On the other hand coil turn input and output soldering to to the copper poles and magnet sides replacement coil and magnet gap distance are very important otherwise no rotary will happen

No. It needs to be enamel insulated wire. You can salvage some from old electrical transformer. Don’t try using uninsulated copper wire like what you find when you strip a cable.

Hello. Thank you for your comment! You need to wait for a very long time before this type of magnets lose their magnetism... When it happens you can just replace them. Did you have a chance to watch our video where we build a simple version of a brushless motor? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p8WodtR8y9eZpY0.html We would like to know your opinion about it.
