Awesome video - much appreciated. The polishing wheel is much smaller than I would have guessed. Also, what does the polishing wheel do exactly? Does it form a complete arc as it scores the metal (making contact with the movement plate throughout the entire revolution)? Or just a partial arc, angled such that contact is only made during 1/2 the revolution? To elaborate, assume the polishing wheel is 100% parallel with the workpiece. That means that the polishing wheel will score a complete circle - where a single point in the polishing wheel will trace out an annular, 360-degree pattern - upon that workpiece (watch movt, metal plate, etc). Now, add a very slight angle (along the x axis, for example) to the polishing wheel and the wheel will then trace out a 1/2 circle, or an arc of no more than 180-degrees. Angle this polishing wheel yet again (this time along the y axis) and now the polishing wheel will trace out just 1/4 of the circle, providing a set of curved lines whose arc is no greater than 90 degrees. The question if the day is: if the wheel used for this coats du geneve exercise were to score a flat piece of brass, would it trace out grooves that are 180-degrees or 90-degrees? Thanks in advance...

Saludos.

Thanks for sharing this. Have you inclined the milling head or is it still true to sliding table?

Hi Rainer, is that a Proxxon milling machine you are using, and if so has it been specially modified in some way to do this job, regards.

Mr. Rainer never divulges his secrets. Therefore, we may never know of the bit type he uses for his handiwork. Please respect the wishes of Mr. Ranier. :P
