I am so excited, I was finally able to buy the Mini-Quilt kit online because of a sale! I will be making it into a pillow for my couch. I just made a quilt from a Valley Layer Cake in an Arizona inspired pattern (self made). I'll share a link when it's done! It will be my first time with curved piecing.

Kimberly! I am brand new to sewing and have done tons of research, from videos to websites--and your videos are my favorite! I love everything you do! PLEASE--do more! The tutorials are fantastic! I've already purchased several items from your store! One question I have is, what sewing machine do you recommend for quilting that will last and is great to work on?

Miss Kimberly: Do you and Miss Sherri suggest using spray starch or alternatives before sewing these blocks for stability purposes? Love your tutorials and this one doesn't make me as fearful of curves as I have been dreading curved units before. Thanks again.

+Barbara Philipp I prefer Faultless spray starch. It adds the strength to my fabrics prior to trimming them so they don't distort. Thanks for your question.

I see that this video is a few years old. So very helpful as I would like to tried some curved seam quilt blocks. I have a question regarding ironing. I have always used a dry iron on my seams etc. I notice you use steam. Do you use steam on all of your quilts and if so why? Thank you in advance.😊

Hello Tanis! We use steam almost all the time, when pressing seams and getting out wrinkles.

I cut both the pie and the background directly from the light and dark layer cake 10” squares. The instructions indicate the pie should be cut from a 7” square, and the background from the 10” trimmed to 9.5” I have tried it with pre-trimmed pieces and 10” not pre-trimmed, and they both come out exactly the same when trimmed to the 9” final block. Please explain why I need to do so much more pre cutting as the directions indicate as opposed to simply using the uncut layer cake squares. Again they come out the same - what am I missing by doing this the “lazy way”?

Hi from Adelaide South Australia could you use appliqué and hand sew Throughly enjoy Kimberly.. have learnt so much I want to hand sew as I have just had surgery on both hands Good way for some rehab very new to quilting

Why are the cut at different sizes? Will it not work if they were the same size? To eliminate waste?

You don't really need the Creative Grids Circle Savvy Ruler but the rest of the video is valid. I don't have one and don't plan to spend $47 to buy one. Make a template out of an empty cereal box and you're good to go.
