i like that forge. or you can heat it until it is no longer magnetic. i think that tricks from rotary smp.

I know about this method but I forgot to mention it. It is probably the most effective and simple of all. Thank you for your message and for your time !

You could temper the die by coating it in oil and the just burning the oil off with a torch.... remove the heat just as the oil disappears, repeat a couple of times.... It should make splitting it to make it a bit adjustable much less of a cracking hazard... 🙂

Wow. I did not know that. I can't wait to use this method. Thank you for sharing your idea. And for your time

Nice video but I suspect there may be a problem with your die. Inside and outside threads have different tolerances so that they would fit into each other. Unless I missed something you have used a tool for inside threads to make a tool for outside threads. The result is the threads you will cut will be larger in diameter than normal outside threads. Have you tried to screw a nut or a tapped hole onto the rod you threaded at the end? Chances are it’s very tight or it won’t fit. If that’s the case you can still grind a split into the die and clamp it in a way that compresses the segments so it creates a slightly smaller thread that fits internal threads better

The most difficult for me is to try to retun after tempering. Indeed, if I split the die, the thread becomes better, but most likely the risk of cracking is high. Tempering is the easy part, the return is much more difficult. I will try this in the future and see what happens. I notice very hard deposits on the die thread after tempering, which I hoped would disappear after the first threading. Maybe those deposits after a few uses will disappear and leave the thread perfect. Thank you for your comment and for your time Sir !

@@JIMMY916 whatever is on the die is what you will get for a thread. i would cover the entire piece in a borax paste and heat it until you can no longer stick a magnet to it. you could also try quenching it in oil. that may reduce the barnacles but you still have to make sure those threads are spotless after cutting them. if there are any burrs when you cut that thread it will show up in your new threads. also, dies have clearance behind the cutting edge. i would do a little more work with a file before hardening.
