Ah, it's Astrantia. We sold it in the past, but then I pulled it because it's pretty sensitive and dies easily in transit. Even when I get it direct from wholesale it's hit and miss and tends to have a short vase life. So glad you found us!

So I’m dropping the bouquet off at my friends getting ready site before the ceremony so she can do first looks and photos. How do most brides get the bouquet back in water and head to the ceremony? Do they just carry it dry the whole way until reception? I don’t necessarily want her to have to man a vase of water and flowers…do florists usually stick around to keep an eye on flowers the entire time??
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 2 жыл бұрын
Nope, just provide a vase for hydration and reminder her to pop it back in the vase when she's not using it so it will look its best throughout the entire event!

Thank you for this! It’s my favorite tutorial yet! One question. After you cut the stems, do you keep them in water overnight or just the refrigerator?
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind comment, I'm glad it helped! So the fridge....I have mixed feelings because I've seen some fridges on the fritz freeze blooms because they were faulty. For the most part, popping bouquets in a cooler is unnecessary unless it's hot as balls outside and you're working with a bunch of delicates. In Oklahoma, the temps can soar above 100' in July and August, and even inside in the a/c, I feel my more delicate flowers don't last as long. So during hot months, I keep them in the fridge so they last longer. Any other time I wouldn't worry about it, they'll hold up fine. You can always get Crowning Glory Spray to keep'em fresher longer.
@tracycampbell8653
@tracycampbell8653 2 жыл бұрын
Great video. How do you finish with the ribbon? Do you let the stems still splay out or gather them together? If you gather them together, will the bouquet not splay out the same?
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 2 жыл бұрын
Great question, Tracy! I just tie the ribbon around the point of intersection because if you wrap it the entire way down it could break the stems and would definitely shift your flowers. That's another reason why I like to cut my stems short is I don't want them seen, and a bouquet looks the best when it's tilted forwards....short stems make this easier for the bride! XO, Amy

Love that style they're beautiful. How do you keep them in water until the next day? And do you dry them before they can be used?
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! After making the bouquet I like to take a small cylinder vase and have just enough water in it that when I place the bouquet inside the vase the bottom of the stems are slightly submerged. When handing it to the bride the day of the wedding I'll usually dry off the bottom of the stems before handing it off- to make sure nothing gets on the brides gown!

This video is so helpful! I will diy my own bouquet, any tips on how to best keep it fresh if I do it the day before the wedding? Is it true that the fridge is the best place to store flowers? Or is a bucket with fresh water and a relatively cool place sufficient?
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 4 жыл бұрын
That can get dicey because I've seen faulty fridges get too cold and freeze some blooms. I've done it in a pinch because it was hot as balls outside, but it's best to just keep it in a cool room away from sunlight. I talk more about this on our site and have a video about it. =)
@Diazargeliaa
@Diazargeliaa 4 жыл бұрын
A K You can pre-cut everything and prepare it 2 days before so the flowers that need to bloom do so. Make it the day before, wrap it with floral tape and put it back in the fresh water and in a fresh/no heat area. The day of, keep it in water until you need it and then wrap it with ribbon.

Absolutely! If you're looking for another silvery/sage green color try Olive branch. It works really great in bouquets and it's foliage is gorgeous! We also love Italian and Israeli ruscus because they are super hardy and have a lovely dark green foliage!

Great video... Would the stems stain the dress or do you cover them?
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 4 жыл бұрын
No, I don't find cut stems to leak or stain.....except possibly artificially dyed flowers (which are not super common in the wedding floral world). Personally, I like to cut my stems pretty short so the bouquet is lighter and easier to handle.

@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 11 ай бұрын
If you're repurposing a bouquet as a centerpiece, simply make sure that the stems are cut short enough that the bouquet sits inside the vase. If you're looking to create an arrangement that like this in a shallow vase, use chicken wire or floral foam to hold your stems in place!

@FlowerMoxie

You probably just need to make a few tweaks. Why don't you try building in a small chicken wire egg? This will hold space between the stems and allow more control. It might just be the method I'm teaching here isn't a good fit for you RIGHT NOW, but try using a chicken wire or bouquet egg, or try building in the spiral method! XOXOX, Ames

Don't fret, I always make my bouquets the day before, cut them, and place them in fresh clean water. No weird additives. For bouts, I pop them in a tubberware with a damp paper towel on the bottom and keep them in the fridge until it's go-time. Watch our Hydration 101 video.

Hello Patricia, thank you! At around 16:05 I talked about how I prefer to cut the stems pretty dang short so brides can easily handle the bouquet, but because I was going to use the flowers in another tutorial I didn't cut them. =) I find when doing organic bouquets I can't wrap the stems all the way down because they are so flared out, so I cut'em short.

Is Tues too soon to get roses for a Saturday wedding?
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie Жыл бұрын
We recommend getting your flowers at least 3 days before the wedding, so for a Saturday wedding you would want to get your flowers on Wednesday. This is enough time for you to process your flowers and then start designing to have everything done before the wedding day. Roses tend to be hardier than some other stems, so if for scheduling and logistical reasons, you needed to get them on Tuesday it would be possible. You would need to make sure to continue to give them fresh water and keep then in a cool area away from bright direct sun to make sure they don't open or fade too quickly.

This answer may be buried in these comments and questions, But how many of each stem would you say is in this bouquet? Greenery, Filler, Accents?
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 11 ай бұрын
No worries, we got you! This is a good rule of thumb to keep in mind when creating a recipe for a bridal bouquet like this one: 10-15 stems filler/volume flowers 7-10 stems accent flowers 1/3-1/2 bunch texture flowers 1/2 bunch greenery total This will ensure that you have enough flowers to create a stunning bouquet!
