You're clearly one hell of a leather worker, but, I'd like to challenge you to make an ABS plastic set of armor for SCA combat; Mostly for my own selfish reasons.. There appears to be almost no one making quality plastic armor smithing content, sooo, more views right??

I noticed your mannequin you're using has chain mail underneath the leather armor. What is a cost-effective way to get chain mail? ⛓️ I think a video on the under-layers beneath the armor would be very helpful for your audience!

Any idea on what the dimensions are for the default fit? It would be handy for sizing/scaling purposes. Also I understand this is supposed to be a quick and simple beginners piece but do you plan on adding an alternative/amended stitching pattern for folks who prefer that to rivets?

They are for someone approximately 6' high, 180lbs. I am 5'10" 175lbs and the default print fits me no problem

how do I make the leather hard, like a saddle?

Leather is mounted to a hard surface on saddles so it's no so much the leather that's hard in that case. And saddles also use veg tanned leather, which is more firm/hard.

But to answer your question, the way you'd achieve something similar is to make a backing plate with some hard material, like wood, resin, carbon fiber, or others.

Is this safe for SCA combat?

It's not designed specifically for SCA but it depends on what you need it to do. Most SCA folks will prefer steel but you can certainly use thicker leather and wear a gambeson under it.
