"Meat walls" lol. I love it. ❤️ I'm trying to teach myself how to draft trousers. Since I am a woman, I do need more curve. From the videos that I've been watching 👀 there isn't too much difference. The biggest change is the curves. There is a larger hip to waist ratio in women. I still learned something.

I cannot believe how good this tutorial is. I used it to make my son pants and they fit perfectly using your method! I'm sooo pleased! You have quickly become my go to KZfaqr for all things 'mens patterns'. It was a bit fiddly making the waist band (that I haven't sewn on yet) because I had to watch several other tutorials. Perhaps you can do a tutorial for the waistband pattern? Other than that, loved it!

It won’t get more views because the video is very hard to watch… The pattern is shown about 20% of the time… Other 80% is OP batting his lashes for some reason… You have to screenmunch the video to make sense of it… I made the pants tho and they were nice

Why not just measure from the ankle to the middle of the knees and get an accurate length, rather than relying on averaged additions/subtractions?

I kno wI'm late to the party, but I'm really enjoying your pattrn making videos!!! How do you determine where to start the last two curves you drew on the back panel? I imagine that you pattern the smaller one off of the crotch, but I feel like I would need another reference point to properly draw the larger (top) curve coming down from the waist.

Hi great video but what do you mean with a little ease? How much do you use, would like 1cm be a wise amount for 'a little ease'?. I just disregarded the ease cause im quite sticklike but i ran into the waist of the front panel being exactly on the outseam line, so there is no space to curve out to the hip.

The "Straddling" you talked about is to find your Crotch length. I'm definitely going to try this method of dividing the crotch length in half and see what it makes. And yeah, the crotch is the soul of the pants. Nice tutorials. 🥰👏🏽

any suggestions for adjusting to make pants for a person who has a rather larger than usual bum & hips, to make them look less apparent? store bought pants tend to fit either my hips or my leg but never both so I'm wanting to make pants that fit my body shape

Oooh great question J Smith! So what I would do is consider your body as one shape when taking measurements. So wherever your hips, dips and bumps come... include them in your measurements instead of trying to find the 'traditional' line of measurement. And then think of the context... if you want to lessen the hips... perhaps there is a styling choice that goes WITH the pants... such as a jacket with wider shoulders so that the proportions aren't as hip focused? Does that make sense?

Just what I was after, clear and simple. Before I get into drawing out does your drawings include any seam allowance or should I add my preferred seam allowance?

No I don't account for seam allowance... You can be as liberal or as tight as your sewing skills allow when making your own patterns. In fact I've taken to marking my seam lines when constructing instead of having to remember how much seam allowance I've allowed. Just ensure your measurements are correct based on your fabric and how you want the fit ✨

For some reason arms on patterns always require a lot of adjustment for me, looking forward to using your videos to get a better fit first time in future. Great content… Questionable delivery… The video would be better if it showed the pattern more and showed OP’s face less… It’s a tough watch but it’s worth it
