@@BarRookie Works and feels really good. I used chrome wardrobe rails for the upright guides, the weight block just glides up with no resistance. So happy with the build. Only thing I messed up (mostly cos i rushed at the end) was the hole for the front pulley. Thank you for sharing! I wonder if I could add a level of a pulley for bicep curls at shoulder level. You extend your arm out straight and curl. Then for bicep curls and shoulders, i probably need different length cords for that huh? I use resistance bands due to neck/ back pain. I figure a pulley system would be better than keep buying bands they keep breaking. It's a pain! I usually work 1 arm at a time because working 2 makes my neck pain worse. It's easier focusing on one arm then switch.
@BarRookie
@BarRookie Жыл бұрын
I would have loved a pulley that you can set at different heights. But in order to make that workable, you need a 2 tot 1 ratio. That way lenght of the cable is less an issue. I would have love to have one at elbow level for external rotations for example. But despite all of that, it is way better than using bands that break.

Hi, that is why I used a cable with plastic wrapping. That way everything stays nice together and you avoid friction between the cable and pulley. A climbingrope will probably stretch over time.

Thank you so much for your comment. I don't really use one because I don't do latpull downs. I'd rather do pull ups 😉. But my girlfriend does pull downs and does not use a pad and it seams to work. Maybe due to the light weight she uses. What I suggest is to just try it without and if you find the need for it you can always build one. If necessary, you can build litte holderd for your feet instead of for your legs, maybe that will simplify the build. Sorry for not having a definite anwser. How is the build getting allong?

I'm building the lat pulldown in order to work up to doing pull-ups. I've tried using the chair assist and well as bands to assist the pullup but they do not work for me so I reckon a lat pulldown will allow me to start at half body weight and work up to it. I have set myself an aim of doing at least 5 strict pulls for my birthday on 19 November when I will be 67 !!

Hi, sorry for the late answer. I found these at the garden section of my local hardware store. These pole holders come with the green poles that are used for metal fencing. Hope that helps!

@BarRookie

Link below, but is really doesn't matter what pole you use. Mine had a diameter of 38 mm. But if your local hardware store only has galvanized steel pipes, these are perfect too. It is just to guide the block. www.gamma.be/nl/assortiment/betafence-steunpaal-plasitor-38-mm-220-cm-groen/p/B197843

Nearly as expensive as a commercial pulley. Nice but I would not trust in the atachment to the weights block. It can be pull out with heavy weights

does anyone know the measures to drill the holes to place the pulleys? appreciate
@BarRookie
@BarRookie 4 жыл бұрын
You have to make sure the adjacent holes are aligned, so that the pulley will roll straight. Also, you can see the location of the pulleys by seeing were the cable will go an use that as a reference were the end of the pulley wheel has to come.

@@BarRookie I understand, but there is some measure of the holes the distance from the tip pulley and the base .. appreciate. good video
@BarRookie
@BarRookie 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks brother. So my theorie is that you need more wood under the pulley wheel than above. Since the forces will be only downwards ones. That is why I would drill my holes 2/3rds of the planks, measured from the bottom of the plank. Hope that makes sense!

You can find them at the hardwarestore, where you can find outdoor fence poles. If they don’t have that, you can always use threaded flanges and galvanized steel pipes. That is as good as an option!

Not really, it help up fine with 90 kg for the thumbnail. Thb I haven't found the need for more than 50kg. The weight seems to heavier than at the gym. It might have something to do with the pulley ratio or something. But it handles it like a charm.

That’s pretty much perfect for me. I’m 81kg so 90 should be more than enough. And if for some reason I still needed more Lat engagement I might as well just do weighted pull ups instead and leave this machine for accessory tricep and bicep exercises. Thanks for the reply btw!!
