Finally someone spills the Tea on this silk thread utilization. Lord knows Ive bought the completely wrong thing due to lack of knowledge. This is the first supplies list that's actually considered us newbies who dont quite know/understand what to look for when searching for silk thread. Some of all kinds of everything comes up when one searches for silk thread online. I've mistakenly bought some sort of nylon or polyester thread (sewing thread at that) in my quest to find the correct n ACTUAL silk thread Ok.

Would you recommend adding glue, or more knots for extra security? Or do you think thats good enough?
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 6 жыл бұрын
It should be good as long as the finishing knot is good. However, a few drops of clear drying glue will not hurt. : )

How long is the card board

You should cut the cardboard to be the length you want your tassel to be. The one in our video is approximately 6 inches long, 3 inches wide. Thanks for watching!

Very nice Mam. Pls can you tell me how many strands of silk thread you have taken. Thankyou. God bless. Tkcare.

The tassel Julie makes in this video is wound about 20 times. When the thread is cut that makes a tassel of 40 strands. There's no magic number with tassels though, you can make them as thick or thin as you like, it's all by eye.

Just my 2cents, since I deal with color more often than I'd like, your description of the colors really threw me. Rose maroon looks like cranberry; raspberry pink more like desert rose or soft rose; grey=taupe; light blue turquoise looks like a sky blue, do not see green in it at all. (and my monitor is calibrated) Anyway, really don't want to sound harsh, just thew me off. Video is great and very helpful.

This is, believe me, is more than fair. What's going on here is that we like to stick to the color names given by the manufacturers whenever we can. It makes our workflows easier internally and it helps our customers comparison shop. But as you're noticing, the jewelry world occasionally has some interesting takes on color names. When I first started working here I was introduced to a popular color called "Red Luster" that is so green that it made me take a color blindness test. So, to sum up: The color names can be useful when compassion shopping or for people making our projects who already own materials from the same company. But when it comes to actually finding out what the colors look like I'd recommend our product photography as the best source. This for instance I would also call sky blue: beadaholique.com/products/beadsmith-100-silk-beading-thread-size-f-140-yards-1-spool-turquoise
