It's a divergence from my usual tiny nerdy things, so let me know what you think in the comments! Do you like a little bit of originality? From a biology perspective this is fantastic! The fins and tail look like a stiff fined fish which are in fact ancient they’re are only a few that we know of! This gives the impression that this monster has been here since fish excited and kept getting bigger while hiding

I saw the thumbnail and was super happy that it came out like that. The ocean is never still and it is always moving, and the bubbles added to that effect. It is truly a gorgeous piece!

Sometimes you see other videos where cloudy looked better than making it shiny when it comes to deep sea pourings. That murky look like you say.

Can I just say that the way the light hit the bubbles in the end was so absolutely beautiful, wow. You may not have wanted them, but to be honest... it makes for some really pretty shots. Super cool concept and despite the mishaps (what project is without struggle?), I think you got a lovely result!

Brad is amazing and honestly the imperfections are helping sell the story of Brad. The bubbles would be accurate for such a large creature coming straight upwards in the large body of water and the separation of resin is kind of giving off a bubble of force vibe from Brad as well. 👏 bravo! 👏

I love it when there's bubbles in water themed resin. It adds so much to the whole project and it'd be cool if someone could find a way to make purposeful bubbles in a certain shape. Like streaming away from an object in the "water"

This has to be one of my favorite resin + clay sea monster projects I’ve seen on here! The bubbles and paint debris ended up looking super neat and gave it a spooky sense of scale. I think I prefer it to all the ones with crystal clear resin lol

One of these days I'll conquer this resin stuff (though it seems most of my issues come from impatience and poor planning, and I've been fighting those since birth).

@@NorthoftheBorder when the mold has a leak it really sucks. I never re -use the resin from the first mold because, as you have seen, it creates many bubbles. In your case it doesn't look bad because the bubbles are inside the sea and as you said the sea monster could have created them 😉. Sometimes I first fill the mold with water to check for any leakages and then let it dry before I do the resin pouring.

I've never made a mold and not checked it carefully. You know, except for the one time I poured an extra thick layer using resin I've never used before 🤦♂️

Here you can read the phonetic spelling of verschlimmbessern and can listen to it as audio. Nice vid by the way! This is awesome. And thank you for including your goofs. I'm one where, if something goes wrong, I usually start over, but I've learned many ways to prevent some of the catastrophes and that is not the end of the world. 🤣 It'll help immensely in my own Loch Ness Monster project. I made teeny tiny teeth for that, too, and was asked "who does that?" Someone who knows the detail should be there and would be bothered if it's not. Lol.

Having this channel forces me to find a way to fix a lot of my goofs. If I stick to a weekly schedule, I can't afford to start over because I simply haven't got the time! It's a surprisingly great way to force creative solutions!

I've only ever worked with resin once and decided I wasn't quite the accomplished creator yet to warrant a second try. I honestly think the micro bubbles, though an accident, add interest more than take it away. Every shot of the the water I've seen had those glistening specks floating around in it. And none of it detracts from the fact that Brad is a very handsome boy.

I think degassing that would detract a bit from the effect. I like the bubbles in there! That said, have you ever tried to make a vacuum to get all the bubbles out for those pours you need to be perfect?

The common practice seems to be a pressure chamber at the end, and let it cure there, Rybonator has a video comparing the two approaches and it seems pressure is by far the simplest way

The imperfections made the piece much more alive than a standard pour The uneven lines near the surface resembles the surface tension and turbulence of the water when brad is ascending The bubbles really brings the ocean into view I cant help but think that the resin is as perfect as it could be

Honestly… your “mistakes” made this so much cooler! The flakes of ocean debris, the bubbles of air escaping from Brad’s rushing movement, it just makes it look so much realer to me, and I respect this a lot, this is so rad!

You did beautifully in the end, i actually love the bubbles being there, it adds to the fact that Brad is submerged in water + makes the glamour shots even more stunning! It can be frustrating to have bubbles working with resin but your sculpting and painting speak volumes. Also, as Arleebean stated, mosquito fart is the best measurement

This was so cool, sea monsters are the best. I really like brad’s design- from the shape of his jaw to the overall chunky-ness. It’s great. And encasing them in a resin ocean looks so good!! I would love to see (sea?) some more ocean beasts some day!

I actually think that being able to see the separation of the two resin layers and the bubbles actually adds a really interesting effect because it makes it look like the sea monster is trapped in ice rather than actively swimming. Also makes the fisherman even more interesting because it implies that this person is perhaps ice fishing and doesn't know of the leviathan stuck in the ice just beneath them.
