Making a solid wood knife block is not as hard a it looks. I used walnut to make this knife block and had some fun along the way. In this video I show how I made the solid wood knife block and hopefully you guys pick up a thing or two, if not hope you enjoy my craziness. Thank you so much for the support!!!

Nice walnut. instead of gluing it how about brass rods peened over to hold the blocks together or just drill the holes and add them anyway.. Don't you have a vice with an anvil edge? 3/8" brass rods cut long and ball peen hammered until the ends mushroom out. it would look killer. the way knife handles should be made.
@KomarProject
@KomarProject 3 жыл бұрын

@@KomarProject Well it looks nice as is. I need to make one, I figured thats how they are done. I may do mine with walnut but the walnut I have is figured, with a lot of blues in and only 4/4 its almost too pretty to glue it up like that, I may use white oak in the center and walnut on the ends, then find me some brass rods. I'll probly never get around to it too busy watching KZfaq videos of other people working. It takes less effort. It would be fun to film projects and post them, just not sure how many people want to watch me make scrap wood.

You want to stay away from that area a bit. Maybe a 1/4 “ or so. I didn’t have any problems with getting a limited in there. You can also use a straw to remove glue if you get too much squeeze out.

Slow and Expensive ya she is a ninja lol. What are you shooting on? Maybe it’s just a setting. Might be able to help if you have questions on it. I’m still learning myself. Been at it for a year only
@SlowandExpensive
@SlowandExpensive 5 жыл бұрын
I'm shooting with a couple canon M50's and I'm using the 15-45mm kit lenses. I also have a 22mm prime which produces a better picture clarity but I end up using the kit lenses mostly because the prime lens limits my frame too much with my run and gun style of shooting. I'm sure lighting is an issue. I notice you have a soft box or some sort of extra light. I seem to get a lot of grainy footage and it tends to get worst the lower the light. I'm all over the place with ISO. If I zoom in I bump it up but I have trouble moving forward on a project and always having to fiddle with the camera between shots. I zoom in it gets dark. I forget to set the ISO back down when I zoom out I'm in the Matrix (all white washed out) I suppose eventually I will figure it out. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
@KomarProject
@KomarProject 5 жыл бұрын
Slow and Expensive I usually don’t go over ISO 800 and that’s worst case scenario. Most cameras have a max ISO setting where it won’t let you bump it up past that point. The soft box light I got 3 of them for like $100 on amazon but only use one and a ring light. Lot of times I only use just the ring light and it makes a huge difference. Also make sure your always shooting in 24fps unless it’s for slow motion stuff. Hope this helps.
@SlowandExpensive
@SlowandExpensive 5 жыл бұрын
Super helpful! I've been shooting in 30fps. My cameras max ISO is like 12800! I usually shoot at 800 in my shop and I just got some new photo light bulbs for out there so I'm hoping that improves things. I will look into a ring light. Is yours a led or fluorescent? and what camera do you shoot with? Dude, thanks so much, it may not seem like much, but I really appreciate the info. You could certainly make a video about your gear and set up people love to see how awesome creators are achieving such good results! Keep em coming!👊😊
