How much roving for a project?

Kathy, great video. I am unclear though, are the loops secured somehow along the row other than at the ends?
@horsegrandma65404 жыл бұрын
The loops are not tied off by any other way. They are just raised up as you see them. They never unwind. They stay put without "knotting" them so to speak.

What thickness or ounce of roving do you use? I would love to try to make one and want to order the correct materials. Thank you

I'm sorry, I do not know. I got my wool raw from a local sheep farm and had it cleaned.

Where do you get your canvas from and what size are the squares?
@horsegrandma65404 жыл бұрын
Chelsey, it's just latch hook canvas you can get at any craft place. Not sure of the size squares. I bet they are all pretty standard size.

How much wool do you need in length to complete a pad? Thank you!
@horsegrandma65403 жыл бұрын
It goes more by weight, not length. Here is an answer I posted previously if this helps: Hello, I am unsure exactly how much roving I had. I stared out with raw from a local sheep farmer and had it cleaned and made into roving. If you are to buy it I would "guess" about 6-8 lbs depending on how big/thick it's going to be. If you order it make sure you will be able to order more in case it wasn't enough. I had a friend who ran out of a certain color and wasn't able to order more

How has your pad worn with use? I'd love to see a picture of one broken in.
@horsegrandma65403 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, these pads last for years, decades. There are ways you can wash them but I never have. I'll see on if I can upload a pic. But if I can't just know that the pad will last for a long, long time. And sorry, I cannot see where or how to upload a pic.

How thick does a pad like this end up being?
@horsegrandma65402 жыл бұрын
It can depend on how big or small you make your loops. The ones I have were about an inch and then they compress down.

How do you do the backside? Do you loop it over your finger?
@horsegrandma65406 жыл бұрын
You just flip it over when you get to the end. If you start watching at 6:30 this is where it's shown how to do this. Every other row is on each side.
