@katelijnesommen

I'm surprised by the amount of comments saying things like that, it must be a difference in how students live based on locality. In my country students generally live communally in normal houses with a shared functional kitchen that will automatically have those things and if you're really on a budget and are studying on a scholarship you will live in large student dorms run by the university or city that have huge kitchens where all cooking necessities are provided. Even the poorest students have the option to cook where I am, which is Belgium so I guess it's pretty much the same in the Netherlands where KWOOK lives. How does it work where you are, how is it possible that these things would not be provided or can't be bought for 5 euros with a student discount in a thrift shop (not an oven obv but the blender and other detachable cooking tools)?

@@katelijnesommenI live in Germany in a student’s dorm and my kitchen is basically 2 hot plates over a tiny fridge, and a sink that’s too small for a pan to fit in. Probably 1,20m wide. But at least I have my own kitchen. I prefer it over sharing a kitchen with 10 loud, lazy, or dirty people, like I had before. Nobody except me ever cleaned, and the fridge was just mold everywhere. And I don’t have a blender because I don’t need one. I don’t like puréed soups and sauces very much.

@@katelijnesommensame here. I live in a shared apartment with 3 other people and we have a fully equipped and functional kitchen + washing machine and dryer. Plus, rent is cheaper than the dorms and I don’t have to carry my laundry to a different floor where I pay a Euro for every wash.

The All Purpose Sauce's one purpose is to give students nutrients their missing from their diet. Because most of the time students don't have time (or meal planning brain space) to cook and eat well balanced meal due to stress, assignments and studying. Great idea to create basically a vegetable smoothie. If you make a big enough batch and freeze it in portions then you're set for a while

Just made a chilli sauce using this recipe as a starting base. Started off roasted some Trinidad Scorpion, Naga Bhut Jolokia (aka Ghost Pepper), Mushroom Red and Thai Bird's Eye chillis (maybe about 20 chillis all up, mostly the Ghost then Scorpion) along with 2 tomatoes, half a capsicum, 1 & half onion and 4 cloves of garlic covered with olive oil & sea salt outside on the BBQ for a while (didn't time it, and used BBQ so the chilli fumes weren't inside). After roasting I let it cool down a bit before blending adding in some chilli powder, chilli flakes, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, apple cider vinegar, splash of white vinegar, splash of lemon juice and streaming in some olive oil. Initially it was a bit more hot than I wanted so I quickly sauteed another tomato on the stove to help mellow out the heat and add touch more tomato flavour, also added more apple cider vinegar and some water to help thin the sauce out to my liking (not too thick but not too thin). After letting the sauce cool down I poured it into two different 500g jars I had soaked in boiling water for several minutes earlier, filled one jar almost to the top and the other about three quarters. Didn't think to weigh the jars before filling but comparing to an empty jar (same as one I filled to the most) I estimate I made about 775-825g of sauce. It tastes great on the sweeter side with a nice kick from the chillis but nothing crazy hot, definitely a great idea to start off with this as a base.
@thatrandomuser4786
@thatrandomuser4786 10 ай бұрын
That looks genuinely interesting and since i like chili i might as well make it myself, maybe tone it down a little cause that feels like waaay too much heat for me lmao. I also don't have a barbecue so I'll have to do either the oven or a stove.

Most students I know have at least got an oven. Fortunately a different way to make this would be to char the veggies over an open flame and then give them an ice bath, you can then peel them and are left with wonderful tasting veggies. As for the garlic, if you use more oil you can recreate it in a pan or you could wrap it in aluminum foil and get it hot on a grill or in a dutch oven

Its amazing to just bake vegetables, no joke. Just any vegetable that would be in a soup or a side dish can be oven baked, it makes them taste like the grilled version of it but also in a little sweeter. They just need some salt and pepper or dip them in any sauce youd use for grilled stuff. For real dude, you need to try.

Hey just wanted to add an easy and unique sauce I love to make. You need per serving: One avocado, heavy whipping cream, yellow onion, some form of garlic, and butter. Sauté your desired amount of onions and garlic in butter, add one mashed avocado and at least equal part heavy whipping cream, continuously stir over low medium heat until reaching desired consistency. I like mine a bit thicker than alfredo, with a few chunks. I add salt, smoked paprika, and old bay to mine but you can add whatever seasoning you want. I prefer to use penne, bowtie, or rotini noodles with this recipe. I also like to add shredded chicken to mine. Hope someone gives it a try and enjoys

There are so many cooking channels out there but I gotta say man, I think yours might be the most unique. And practical too. You're reaching an entire audience that can't always pull off the things we see on other channels due to time, money, or space. And that doesn't even include your series on national dishes or breakfasts around the world. I honestly think I can call your channel my favorite, at least among the cooking channels. In indonesia we have like this sauce and we called it "sambal", we have almost same ingredients but we add 'terasi' (shrimp paste) for increase more delecious taste. Also, the way we make it we don't bake all the ingredients but we fry them, put seosening on it when we blend it (sometimes we use 'ulekan' (traditional blender) for blend it)
