This video a step by step tutorial and I will show you how to make a astable oscilator or multivibrator. It's very simple to make and you can use it in many applications as 220v inverter or you can make flyback transformer driver or any application that requires a ascilator.By changing the resistors value and capacitors value you can make any desired frequency.I hope you find this video helpful and thanks for watching!

So that is a dual pot? (2 wipers internally?) Or simply connecting both to the same terminal of a single wiper pot?

How come every video on youtube on this subject uses bipolar transistors? Can you use mosfets or igbts instead?

Using bjt to make this type of oscillator is the most common and widely used thing, of course is possible to use mosfets or igbt.

assuming that you did everything as in the video, it is possible that the transistors you use to have another pins configuration. I'm using 2n2222a, for example bc337 have diferent pin configuration. And you have to use NPN transistors.

Transformer, but you can use also a switch mode power supply, should work with no problem.

If you are using 2N2222A NPN transistors, then how can the right leg be collector? According to the datasheet the left leg is collector, middle base and right emitter. I am also using 2N2222A NPN transistors and my LEDs simply light up and do nothing more.

The 2N222A NPN transistor are in two packages, TO-92 which I used and the pins configuration are EBC and the TO-18 (metal housing) the pins configuration are CBE. It does not matter what package you use once you know the pins configuration you can flip the transistor to put the pins position to EBC or CBE.

hey! i builded this circuit and its working :) but originally i wanted to build something with sound....would it be possible to get sound out of this? and if so how should i connect speakers or an audio jack? can someone hellp me?

You can actually put a motorcycle/scooter lane changing indicator buzzer or just an electronic alarm and put in the circuit. It will work.

This is not an adequate "how-to" because the video is blurry and you cannot see the pieces well or where you're stickin' 'em. I have an idea from what you're doing from a clearer site. To depict something clearly you should create a diagram and provide a typed list of materials you are using.
