Hello everyone! How would you have improved Cars 2? Did you actually prefer Cars 2? I didn't think it was a terrible movie by any means, I just wanted to give my thoughts to how I would have preferred the movie to occur. If you have other thoughts let's have a discussion! Have a magical day!

Pixar tends to have sequels focus on the sidekicks of the original film

This is actually a perfect idea for the second Cars.

I would've preferred Cars 2 if it focused on McQueen, the World Grand Prix, and Doc's death. Here's how to do it Lightning wins his 4th Piston Cup (yes, we see the race) and gets reminded how Doc died then. He gets home to Radiator Springs and gets a call from Axelrod about the WGP. He hesitates but joins by the townies request. McQueen, Luigi, Guido, Sarge and Filmore arrive to Tokyo. Where there's training and testing the fuel before Francesco and McQueen trashtalk until Francesco mentions Doc's death and McQueen has a flashback of him and Doc training. McQueen leaves to a hotel and prepares for the race. The race will be like the original, but no spy scenes or Mater, and McQueen will win Tokyo because of Doc's lessons Italy will center about McQueen's victory and new tricks. The race will be similar but longer and McQueen and Francesco basically switch between first and second every 5-10 minutes. McQueen wins again London will be like McQueen starting to stop taking Doc's death so personally and be optimistic about the final race. When Francesco tries to go as fast as possible to beat McQueen, he slides and almost crashes but gets saved by McQueen and they cross the finish line. McQueen returns home and reunites with his friends. The movie ends with a new trophy on McQueen's stand next to Doc's picture. What do you think. This is not the entire movie but you can fill in the missing pieces.

That is an amazing idea for Cars 2. I can totally see Lightning being in that type of situation and having inner conflict with in himself in every way you described. One element I might add is Lightning struggling over Doc’s death(and even though it might be sad, maybe we can see when and how he died).

I like the idea of having Mater's spy adventure as a special or a short. And I completely agree, the story should have been about Lightning continuing to grow as a person, and possibly have had moments with Lightning remembering his days with Doc.

The main role of Cars 2 in the franchise is to progress Lightning and Mater's friendship, and its main moral is about accepting others and feeling pride in who you are. These two things could not have been accomplished if the Lightning and Mater elements were separated. We are meant to learn through Lightning that we should accept our friends differences, and so we relate to Lightning in that he doesn't accept Mater's quirks. For Lightning not to accept Mater, he needs sufficient motivation, which is the function of racing in this movie. Lightning's racing career is important to him, and because Mater's behavior damages his reputation, he doesn't accept him. The magnitude of this new racing tournament, the new character Francesco's mockery in it, and Mater's presence at it put Lightning's reputation at stake in a way it has never been before. We are meant to learn through Mater that we should accept our OWN differences, so we relate to Mater in that he doubts himself. For Mater to doubt himself, he also needs sufficient motivation, which is the function of the spy element. Mater's being pulled into espionage in this movie is entirely dependent on him looking like an idiot, and when he realizes this is the sole reason why he is in this espionage situation, he doubts himself. The reunion of the two is the pivotal moment. Lightning has learned to support Mater, and Mater remembers not to doubt himself. We see both the impact of being judged and the moral issue of judging, and seeing both are crucial to the moral of acceptance in this movie. Take one away, and it wouldn't be nearly as impactful. Focus on McQueen instead of Mater, you're focusing on someone who's accepted and glorified by everybody, which doesn't make sense when your moral is about acceptance. Mater is a better fit because people around him need to learn to accept him, that's why it was best for Lightning to take a backseat in this one. If the changes you proposed were made, this movie would not be about acceptance, but about confidence, which is only half of what Cars 2 is about. You'd have an entirely different movie with a much weaker set of lessons to be learned, which, ultimately, wouldn't be as good.

im so excited for cars 3

As a hardcore fan of this franchise, here's how Cars 2 should've been: 1. Acknowledge continuity from the video games so you won't confuse long time fans who stuck with the franchise since day 1. Keep Lightning's Racing Headquarters and Racing Stadium. Have the acknowledgement of the Mater-National and Race-o-Rama be subtle Easter eggs and subtle continuity nod that long time fans will get. As for Doc Hudson, I don't know to either keep him alive or dead. It's fine either way. 2. Have Lightning be the main focus. Giving Mater the spotlight doesn't feel like a follow up to Cars. It feels like a Mater spin-off movie or an extended fully blown short of Mater's Tall Tales, or as I like to refer to it "Cars Toons Presents: Mater's Tall Tales: Agent Double 0 Mater: The Movie 3. Keep it grounded and realistic like the first Cars movie. 4. Ditch the spy plot and have it be like a movie Lightning and Sally were watching at the Drive-In movie theater. 5. Keep the Lightning and Mater scenes from the beginning of the movie.

Your idea is waaaaayyy better than the original Cars 2 in my opinion. And the racers should've had speaking roles!

I actually liked Cars 2 enough, I think it is perfectly fine. But how would I make it better? I don't know why, but this Lighting prequel idea just came to my mind. I know it technically doesn't count as a sequel, but I've always wondered how did McQueen started racing. Maybe he was inspirated by another racing car or a family member or something like that. It just sounds (to me) like a fun idea to explore.

I will say that "critically", the original Cars is better than Cars 2, but I had a lot more fun watching Cars 2. You could just call it my guilty pleasure.

Though I don't believe Cars 2 was a bad movie, it was beautifully animated, the story line was interesting, and the writing was good, I agree with the idea that Lightning should have been kept as the main character. Other than a few extremely special scenes, there wasn't much talk of Lightning at all. It created a need for the OG main role back. However, the movie did have that Pixar feel flair. Mater did go through some small life changes of his own throughout the movie. He realized how others truly saw him and how limited he is outside of his home, but he pushed through anyway in order to save his friends. Is this a big enough change and is this enough to outshine Lightning's original story? No. But, I don't particularly feel that this was the worst Disney/Pixar film.

Great idea dude! Once I saw Cars 3 I finally realized why Cars 2 felt so weird, it was about Mater and British spies, not Lightning and racing. Its still an enjoyable movie, but would defiantly be better as a Tall Tale or a short film. Again, awesome job!

You know, I think it wouldn't be so bad if this were a Mater's Tall Tales short like it would involve with Lightning and Sally seeing a Finn McMissle movie at the Drive-In and Mater said to Sally and Lightning that "he used to be a secret agent." It would start with him at the airport catching a flight to Japan to see the sumo wresting show until he came across a security car and then we continue the short like what Cars 2 was and have the "you was there, too" gag be where Lightning has a bomb in his hood and he was getting autographs in England and Lightning having the bomb in his hood was a lie and the real bomb was in Mater's cap like in the "movie." And for the "That did not happen part," it would show Mater getting on the plane with the "real" Finn McMissle and his new girlfriend Holly Shiftwell or end with him using rocket boosters like in the "movie." And the short ends.

This is really interesting I do think Cars 2 I was hoping to be all about Lighting McQueen and his thoughts on the World Cup I like your idea Issac👍🏻

When you said that Cars 2 should've been a Mater's Tall Tales movie I was thinking the same thing for months before then. Maybe have the Lightning Mcqueen scenes be the "You was there too" scenes.

Funny. I was thinking about this one for a while too. Your idea sounds a lot better than the idea I came up with. I was thinking that they could've kept the whole spy thing, but they should've added Lightning into the mix. When Finn discovers that the lemons are using a TV camera and heading to Tokyo, he asks for Lightning's help to go undercover into the World Grand Prix. This would have kept the spy flick that Pixar wanted, yet have Lightning grow as a character as he may try to not only help save the world, but his desire to win overpowers this. I don't know, this was just something that popped into my head. Great video though

I liked Cars 2 and still do. Loved the spy stuff and Mater getting a girlfriend, though I agree that Lightning deserved at least the same amount of screen time Mater had.

I think turning the spy shennanigans into a short similar to Burn-E (I think it was called that), which came with the Wall-E DVD would have been perfect, specially if throught the movie there were hint and cameos here and there that later linked to the whole spy ark

If keep the spy stuff as a minor B-plot, done like a Maters Tall Tales as Mater Flashbacks. Maybe as a way to cheer up/distract Lightning

Excellent ideas. I absolutely agree that Cars 2 should've focused on the World Grand Prix and Lightning's shrinking confidence as he discovers that F1 racecars are a hell of a lot faster and more agile than NASCAR racecars like him, being heavier in weight and all. A NASCAR is about 1.5 tons, while an F1 is a little under 1 ton. Here are some more ways to improve the movie: 1. Don't anthropomorphize the cars so much. In the 1st movie, cars just consumed gasoline. There were no visible toilets or human food because they're machines. I'd imagine that dumping a glass of champagne in a Ferrari's engine would probably be bad for the vehicle yet, in Cars 2, we see a Ferrari drinking a champagne. Plus, there's a popemobile. There're cars eating wasabi, and there're cars coming out of a bathroom. WTH? Does a Car, unlike a regular "car", have a flesh-and-blood digestive and excretory system inside a metal exterior? Do Cars believe that Car Jesus died on the cross to absolve us of our sins? 2. Can we see more of Sally, please? She had just as much, if not more, screen time in part 1 than Mater did. Why is she so invisible in this sequel? She's the girlfriend of the protagonist for God's sake. Maybe she could've given Lightning emotional support while he's going through a tough spot being in this new international setting. Just because young boys are the target audience doesn't mean they're afraid to see girls & women in their movies. 3. Pick a different message. The message of "everyone should be allowed to be themselves" doesn't work here. Mater is embarrassing Lightning by acting like a clown in public, especially during the wasabi scene and the scene where he's yelling out loud during a kabuki theater performance. If Pixar had focused on the racing, then Pixar could've done a message about the importance of a surrounding community when facing your toughest challenges. That builds on Cars 1's message about becoming apart of a close community and understanding that you're not an island.

Cars 2 isn't the worst movie ever, but your ideas make it more enjoyable, or at least interesting. The spy stuff lends itself better to a special and not a movie.

I loved Cars 2 much better than the other cars movies. Honestly, I think they focused too much on the racing. I loved the spy elements and wanted to see more of that.

I honestly think and feel that aside from the two different storylines interwound in cars 2 The heart of the film is lightning McQueen growing impatient with maters antics, and Mater being shoved into a position where he has to grow and change from there. At the end, he pulls it altogether and reveals Miles Axelrod to be the true villain behind the attacks while lighting Learned how to reconcile with Mater.

I would take both your ideas on what acts 2 should've been and where to put all the spy stuff in and make them happening simultaneously

I like the idea of the interlaced corruption plot, but I want to make it the main stress on the racing and not make the racing interfere with the spying. No more spy stuff, just Finn and Holly doing some behind the scenes work to track down what's going on. More races, less Mater, bigger shock at the finish.

The one thing I liked about cars 2 was lightning and mater learning to appreciate their friendship. I would follow your version except mater makes lightning loose his race then after he goes through all the conflict of winning he makes up with mater and no secret spy stuff

i think that they wanted to take advantage of the fact that the name of the movie was CARS 2 and not LIGHTNING MCQUEEN. I do agree with you when you said it should have been 2 different movies because of the lack of story between Lightning and Mater but I like the movie over all.

Thing about Cars 2, is that what makes me like it, is the new characters, I really wanted to see them in Cars 3, but without the spy plot, I would have been really cool.

I agree with all of this. I've said to everyone who asks why I like the movie is "I liked the spy story, and have no doubt it would have been well received as its own franchise. it just shouldn't have been set in the Cars universe. it wasn't a bad movie, just a bad Cars sequel."

The movie would start with Lightning Mcqueen I am speed Monogue. Lightning Mcqueen would be racing throughout the years with Doc as his crew cheif. Then we get to a part where Lightning is racing and Doc is helping out. Lightning wins the race. Doc is proud of him. We get to a part where Doc and Lightning are talking about how good he is. Lightning and Doc then race on the canyon. We get to a part where Doc is at the hospital. He is dying from lung cancer. Lightning, Mater, and Sally enter the room to say goodbye to Doc. Soon after, there is a funeral for Doc in Radatier Springs. Lightning, Mater, and Sally stand in front of Doc's grave. Lightning hasn't raced for three years since Doc's death. Lightning soon sees that the piston cup has been changed to hudson cup in regoncision of Doc. Lightning sees on the TV that the world hasn't seen him for three years questioning what he has been up to. Lightning starts to remember Doc. Lightning comes out to play with Mater to get Doc off his mind. He then has dinner with Sally. Soon after, the TV starts playing. Miles Axslrod announces the world grand prix. Soon he mentions that Lightning has been gone for a long time. During the interview Francisco starts to make fun of Mcqueen. Mater then answers the phone telling Francisco how fast Mcqueen really is. Lightning soon hears what going on. He then answers the phone. Miles Axelrod is exicted to hear Mcqueen's voice. He then asks Mcqueen to come back and join the World Grand Prix. Lightning accepts it. Sally suggests that Mater should come with him. Lightning says okay and brings Mater. Lightning says to himself this is for you doc. Then he gets his new paint job. Lightning and his friends get on the plane and go to tokyo. Lightning and Mater explore Tokyo. They then run into Francisco. Francisco introduces himself to Lightning saying that he is going to win. Lightning says that's not going to happen on my watch. Miles Axelrod soon has an interview with Lightning. Miles says to him how much the world has missed him. Lightning says it's a pleasure to be back. He says he couldn't race without Doc. But now he is ready to get back to racing because that's what Doc would've wanted. Miles Axelrod anounces that the world grand prix is about to start. Mater and the rest of Lightning's crew encourage him that he's got this. He thanks his friends. Miles Axelrod says the race is about to begin. Lightning then says okay here we go speed, I am speed. Francisco says ready to lose. Lightning says he's ready to win. The race then begins. Lightning remembers doc and then wins. Francisco does not like that he's lost. Lightning's crew is proud of him. Then there is a celebration to Lightning's win. Lightning then remembers Doc again. During the party, Rusty, Dusty, and Mack come to see Lightning since they haven't seen him in awhile. Then Sally comes to see Lighting at the party. Francisco then interrupts them. Sally then meets Francisco. This then gets Lightning jealous. Then Mater comes to ask Lightning where the bathroom is because he starts leaking. Francisco starts to laugh. Lightning is very embarrassed. Mater then goes to the bathroom. The bathroom looks really complicated. Mater does not know how it works. Lightning then hears Mater screaming. Lightning rushes to the bathroom. He sees that Mater is covered in soap. Lightning helps Mater get the soap off of him. They come back from the bathroom. Lightning sees Francisco talking to Sally. Lightning then takes Sally out of the party where they could talk privately. Lightning says he isn't to sure about continuing racing without Doc. Sally says that racing was never easy for Doc. Lightning says he doesn't trust Francisco. Sally says you might like him if you get to know him better. Lightning says okay. A few days later it was time for the Italy race. Lightning says his monogue he then gets interrupted by Francisco. Francisco reminds Lightning that he is going to lose. Francisco starts talking bad about Mater. Lightning does not like this. He tells him not to talk about his friend that way. Francisco doesn't care. Lightning says you're going down. Francisco says we'll see who's going down. The race then begins. Lightning races with frustration about Francisco saying bad things about Mater and for Francisco trying to steal Sally from him. Lightning acts very cocky during the race. His team starts to notice how he's acting. Lightning starts to act very different. He even pushes other racers. Everyone is in shock. Lightning tries his best to keep up with Francisco but he isn't fast enough. Francisco soon wins the race. Lightning is very furious at this. Lightning starts getting interviewed with why he is acting this way. Lightning soon sees what he did wrong. He then leaves immediately. He gets chased by other cars but they end up losing sight of him. Lightning says to himself what has he done. A search party to find Lightning then begins. The other grand prix racers get interviewed of how their reaction was to Lightning acting this way. Miles Axelrod also gets interviewed. His team then sees this on the TV. They start questioning why Lightning was acting like this. Sally says she is going to look for Lightning. Everywhere she goes she sees the race on TV. She tries to ignore it. She then finds Lightning. She asks him what was going on. Lightning then tells her that Francisco was talking bad about Mater. He also tells her that Francisco is trying steal her from him. Sally tells him that Doc has also went through this. She says that he should be calm about it and what he say isn't true. Lightning says you're right. She says are you ready to come back? Lightning says yes. Meanwhile, it's been hours since Lightning has left. Mater starts thinking he might never see his best friend again. Soon Lightning and Sally are back. Everyone is proud to see him again. Miles Axelrod then interviews Lightning why he was acting this way. Lightning then apologies for the way he has acted during the race. He's says it won't happen again. A few days later it is time for the final race in England. Lightning imagines Doc. Doc tells him that he's got this. Lightning says thanks Doc. Francisco says it's time for me to become the nest racecar in the world. Lightning says don't you mean it's time for me to become the best racecar in the world. Miles Axelrod anounces that the race is about to begin. Lightning says okay here we go speed, I am speed. The race then begins. Everyone is cheering for Lightning to win. Lightning starts catching up to Francisco. Miles Axelrod says who is gonna win Lightning or Francisco. Francisco says something bad about Doc. Lightning starts to fade. Everyone sees him fading. They are shocked. Lightning starts to remember Sally words and Doc's advice. Francisco says this race is mine as he catches up to the finish line. Lightning then comes up and says hey Francisco you're right this race is mine kachoo! Lightning then wins the race. Everyone cheers. Francisco screams out no! Lightning has became the best racecar in the world. Sally tells Lightning that Doc would be proud. Lightning team is very proud of him. Miles Axelrod interviews Lightning saying how does it feel to be the best racecar in the world. Lightning says he couldn't do it without his crew and the advice from Doc. Lightning says he did it for Doc. Then Lightning and his friends are back in Radatier Springs. The movie ends with Lightning and Sally racing on the canyon.

In My opinion cars 2 wasn't great or bad, it was decent in my opinion, but overall: Cars 1-Best Cars 3-better Cars 2-good

I LOVED your idea! The plot line, characters, and i totally agree about the movie being better off as something else rather than the sequel of the first movie. Don't get me wrong the movie was good, but they could've focused it more on Lighting or if the creators did want to focus on Mater they could've tried giving Mater a different conflict and/or developed his character more instead. I'm also excited about the new movie coming out tomorrow!! (In the US idk about other countries) Which Cars 3 is going to be focused on Lighting which is waaayyy better. I hope you review the movie! It’s called cars 2 because there’s two stories in one movie, McQueen’s racing path and mater’s secret spy path.

I prefer the idea of Cars 2 in 2013 where Lightning McQueen is racing against Carl Clutchen, his ex-friend that betrayed him in his racing school.

What if Cars 2 was good, like really good? What if I was a story executive at Pixar who told John Lassiter "let's fix some things up"?

Well Isaac when you put those ideas and thoughts forward this movie could’ve been a lot better Also one of the only greatest things I love about this movie is that Jeff Gordon 4x NASCAR cup series champion and Formula 1 legend driver Lewis Hamilton are in the same scene

Honestly, that new Cars 2 just sounds like Cars 1 again.

At 2:11, a clip of a race in the movie is playing and you can see a few of the sponsors/adds (I'm not sure which they are) that border the track. One sign is for a company called "LasseTyre".

Personally I do tend to agree with you, plus having some more focus on the racing and other close battles on track besides McQueen and Francesco. Though personally I think after McQueen’s incredible turnaround and display of sportsmanship in Cars 1, to giving up his race for an up and coming racer in Cars 3, it would’ve been fitting if he’d won the overall event here in Cars 2, since most of his success tends to happen off screen half of the time.

Well, this is pretty much the plot to Cars 3 except Lightning has to deal with the fact that he's getting old, while the stakes are that if he loses, he'll be forced to retire. And since Cars 3 acts like Cars 2 never happened we can just make that Cars 2, and Cars 2 an extended episode of Mater's Tall Tales. :P

yeah. Mater is more of a comic relief character. I liked Cars 2. (its not a bad film, for all you haters out there) but I think the story really should've focused on McQueen. which would gotten a 61% at least. I totally agree with you.

If only you were the director of Cars 2...

I talked with my sister about Cars movies and we would have hoped some backstory why Lightning was so cocky about himself and so obsessed about winning. Usually this just doesn't come out of nowhere imo. By this, the act of Lightning in the end of the race in first movie, giving up his sure victory for helping out another car, would have been more powerful. As an audience we would have understood the impact it had in the character of Lightning. It would have been personal, not just everyday lesson of winning isn't the most important thing.

Here’s how I would fix Cars 2; 1. I would make it a spin-off instead of a sequel. 2. I would have it only focus on Finn McMissile, Holley Shiftwell, Leland Turbo, Rod "Torque" Redline, Tomber and the lemons (just be noted that Leland Turbo and Rod Redline don’t die in this version, as the opening is slightly changed so Finn gets to the oil rig on time, knocks the lemons out, saves Leland, one of the "lemons" is revealed to be Rod Redline (just like in the bathroom scene) and they escape). 3. I would remove the World Grand Prix and all the characters from the first film and save them for a 1-hour Cars Toon special released in 2013. 4. I would add a post-credits scene that reveals the events of the film were just a dream Mater was having on his way to the World Grand Prix in Japan along with Lightning, Fillmore, Sarge, Luigi and Guido, which serves as a teaser for the aforementioned Cars Toon special released in 2013. 5. I would retitle it to "Cars: Super Spies" and use the original title for Cars 3 (despite being retitled, everything else in Cars 3 would be exactly the same). What do you think?

I like Cars 2 like it is, except for all the extra stuff, but your idea for making it better is excellent. I also have a theory I would like to be answered: you know how Doc left for Radiator Springs in Cars 3? Well, I would like to know how and why. Just a theory i came up with. 🙂

Fixing it was simple. Make Cars 3 into Cars 2, and call Cars 2 Mater's adventure.

How to make cars 2 good: forget about it

So, honestly, I can't agree with you. I like you're ideas and the film would perhaps be fun to watch if they would have done it like you're saying in the video, but I personally like cars 2 much more as it is. I love the idea of the main story NOT being focused on the previous main charackter, and I found it really interesting, to see mater interacting as the main charackter in this movie. In my opinion, cars 2 was the best out of all three of the cars movies, just because of that great idea, to let the viewer see a whole other world than usually. I think it's a great movie just as it is, and It honestly makes me a bit sad that pixar got sooo much critique on cars2, but never the well deserved good feedback. I think that the movie is hella underrated, and I really hope that Disney is going to take the 'risk' of changing the main focus in a movie once in a while again - I would really enjoy it. Please don't feel offended, but that's just my opinion and I really wanted to just leave a comment about it ^'

Cars 2 was amazing as well as the other cars movies, I grew up watching the first movie and I still love them now , I watched the 3rd movie and I loved it so much in my opinion all cars movies are the best pixar movies everyone who grew up with the first movie loved the second and the third

I love the ideas you have but if I were to write the movie instead of starting with the spy scene I would've started with a brief piston cup race showing lightning winning his fourth cup

I just saw Cars 3! It was amazing!! I love the first one and two is pretty good as well

I just think cars 2 should've focused on Lightning in the middle of his career. In cars 1 we see McQueen at the start of his career and in cars 3 it focuses on McQueen at the end of his career. Cars 2 should've shown McQueen fighting the more modern racers instead of the old school racers and his development as a champion. Cars 2 does show that McQueen was in the middle of his career considering that he has four piston cups when he's raced a total of 10-11 years

Mcqueen arrives home after winning his 4th piston cup, he spends time with Matter, and goes on dates with Sally, while on the restaurant, where Matter works part time, he hears about the WGP on the news, and sees Franchesco mad mouthing him, and Matter gets on the Phone to defend his friend, saying he (Franchesco) is not half the racer Mcqueen is, after pulling Matter away to the phone, Mcqueen then decides to enter the race after the Townies encourage him. In Tokyo, he starts thinking about how Doc died and the last moments they spent together, Doc's body was failing due to his age, and his parts stopped being made ages ago, making it impossible to fix him. The old race car then spends his last days with his friends and has one last race with Mcqueen, with everyone watching, and passes away peacefully the next day. Mcqueen gets distracted by the memories and loses the race, in Italy he congratulates Franchesco on winning, who in return says Doc's lessons were useless to Mcqueen, the latter gets mad and almost hits the F1 car, but is stopped by Matter and Sally, who point out he will get disqualified for hitting him, this little incident tarnishes Mcqueen's reputation in the WGP. The red and yellow car is more determined than ever to win the race, he concentrates and manages to beat Franchesco in his home country, humiliating him. In the UK, Mcqueen is now more confident and races to the max, the streets are easy to drive but is once again competing with Franchesco for 1s place, unfortunely, it starts raining and the racers start crashing because of the slippery roads, they haven't had the time to change into the rain tires. Mcqueen slows down as to not crash and his F1 rival uses this opportunity to pass him, but slips on the road and almost crashes, but is saved by Mcqueen, they make it into the rain tires and continue to race, and Mcqueen uses a techiniqye Doc taught him for winning in the rain, the Inertial drift rain version, he uses the normal inertial drift to slip in the rain while regulation his speed to gain more momentum, he gets ahead of the F1 car and wins the race.

As fun as Cars 2 was, I agree that it was the plot that seemed so out of place. It's what really turned me off. Makes just want to link Cars and Cars 3 into one plot, forgetting about the second... yet, it was a treat to watch.

I didn't think Cars 2 was a bad Disney/Pixar movie. I actually like the spy stuff of mater & how he got a Girlfriend though Lightning McQueen was the main character in the first cars movie & not mater. But mater is still a great cars character and i loved him. Including Cars 2. Plus i really love the spy story of mater in that movie too. Pixar may not have focused more on Lightning McQueen in Cars 2 & it may be a bad sequel, but i still love it. Including mater. So what do you say? Do you agree with me?

Have the superspy portions be small snippets of the movie while having a paralell movie that mainly features those elements and have both movies converge at the ending.

Here's how I would've fixed Cars 2: The begging introduces a montage of Lightning and Doc, spending quality time with each other. In the meantime, during this montage, he is winning so many Piston Cup trophies, so many that he has forgotten what it's like to lose for once. To conclude the montage in the beginning' Doc suddenly dies sometime after Lightning won his fifth Piston Cup. He's unaware that Doc passed, all the cars from Radiator Springs left with grief and sadness without informing McQueen what happened. Mater tried to tell him what happened, but it was too much pressure on him to reveal that loss since he knew Doc before Lightning. After Mater left failing to attempt to inform Lightning about Doc's passing, Sally breaks it to Lightning with a heavy heart (or engine, I should say), that Doc passed away. From that moment on, Lightning's confidence and courage diminished, and he began to lose more races lately. The more he loses , the more he takes it out on others, eventually causing him to hurt Mater's feelings and making him drive away far. Then Lightning starts to lose light of who he really is. Throughout Lightning's journey, he will learn to 'find himself' as he seeks ways to regain his confidence so he can continue to have the drive and ambition to continue racing, and try to accept the fact that his potential occupational future can't be dictated by his clogged emotions of grief and dispare because Doc died. Towards the end, he will realize that Doc wants him to continue racing as well as he does for himself. And he will regain the confidence needed to win more with the help of Jeff Gorvette. The symbolism to this is not only respecting the wishes of valued loved ones that want to to continue prospering in life, but to also not let tragedy, or catastrophic events let your emotions cloud your courage, drive, ambition, or confidence. And taking things out on others won't 'turn back the clock'. But the only way you can 'wind it up again' is to continue the legacy you once started with and not let any tragedies manipulate onself and take it out on other people. Who knows, Disney and Pixar might make a reboot of this movie and include more interesting themes, scenes, and symbolism that is not so obvious. And maybe we can see a deeper relationship between Lighting, Bobby, and Cal.

I liked the Cars 2 original plot, but here’s how I would change it: remove the Miles Axelrod being the secret villain and make Professor Z the mastermind who’s sabotaging the fuel, and as for the ending, Mater, actually gets rid of the Bomb by going in water, and they redo the race the next day

I think Cars 2 was alright, and I'm mostly indifferent to it. The scenery's beautiful, and I like most scenes that involved Lightning, but that's about it. I didn't really expect anything from it, and I only saw it once at home on TV, but it was just playing in the background, and I wasn't paying attention.

As a trilogy, the theme of cars can be 1)slow down and appreciate the past and the little things life. 2) explore the present and widen your comfort zone And 3) accept that the world changes and accept that sometimes, you have to change yourself.

You are so right. I loved the first movie but second not that much. I always felt something something was missing and now I know what it is so thank u. I a, so excited for cars 3 because it focuses on lightening again.

I agree. Cars 2 was a pretty good movie, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't really fit in the trilogy. The Grand Prix was good for the second movie, but the spy stuff could've been good for Mater's Tall Tales.

My plot of the movie: Lightning mcqueen now a official radiator springs resident, Lightning came home with Mater and his racing crew returns to Radiator Springs from his latest Piston Cup racing season, and is happily greeted by all of his friends, especially Sally. Formula 1 champion Francesco Bernoulli and Lightning Mcqueen share an intense rivalry in the first ever World Grand Prix like no one has seen before in racing history. Mcqueen & Bernoulli burn up the track, all the while pushing themselves to the breaking point of physical and mental endurance like no other. Meanwhile, their friends and families in their lives and the audience around the world can only watch as both race cars risk accident or even death in every second, minute, hour, and with every lap.

I would just make Cars 3, the Cars 2 and have the official Cars 2 not be cannon...
