How to easily make coconut yogurt. Homemade coconut yogurt is very creamy and budget-friendly.
Add-ins optional: vanilla extract, sugar
If you are using something else besides an Instant Pot for incubation, make sure the temperature stays around 110 deg. F (43 deg. C). Be sure to save at least a tablespoon of your finished yogurt to make your next batch. Make your next batch of yogurt within 10 days of your first batch to maintain the yogurt culture.

Thank you so much for keeping it simple! I have been putting off making this for my daughter because I didnt have a food thermometer and every vid/recipe suggests to use one although they use an instant pot aswell. Cant wait to make it!

Notes. Can of coconut cream or milk. Add scoop 1-2 tbsp yogurt. 14.5 hours no pressure meaning vent OPEN. Put in refrigerator. Q’s: Is your setting on normal? Should we heat up the coconut in the microwave first for 30 seconds to have a warm environment for the probiotic to live? I suggest you put the can in refrigerator to make sure fatty coconut separates from liquid part. Use liquid part for smoothies.

Funny she said to use Org Thai coconut milk but she actually used 365 Organic Coconut Cream unsweetened. Wonder the difference between cream & milk.

so awesome :) You said it's possible to use a different plant-based yoghurt for this. I was wondering, can I use soy yoghurt+coconut milk or, for example, coconut yoghurt+soy milk? Do you know how the probiotics are affected by the medium they live in? Thanks for the video!! :)

Yes that would work. The probiotics should be the same.

Do you need to strain this after it cools. That is what I do when I make soy yogurt in my instant pot.

I think I messed up. I thought the instant pot was going to beep when it was done...it stayed in there an hour and a half. Did I mess it up?

It is okay if it stays in there longer. It will just taste a bit more tangy.

Do you mean an extra 1.5 hr. no problem as long as it went the entire 14-15 hrs.

So if my instant pot doesn’t have a yogurt option, can I just do it for 14 hours?

As long as it can maintain a temperature around 110 degrees F. It is not on pressure mode.

I wouldn't do that. I actually bought a 2nd IP that does have a yogurt button. Or do you have a separate yogurt maker?

You said to use coconut MILK, but when making the yogurt, you are using coconut CREAM. So, which one should use?!

I used a can of coconut milk. Either would work. You just don't want it to be too watery.

How did you get your instant pot to work without adding water to the pot? Generally, a warning is displayed if no water is added. If I have to use water, should I place the measuring cup on the trivet to avoid burning? Or should I avoid all that and add the yogurt to the pot and let it sit for 14hrs without any glass/measuring cup? Edit: I tried doing the following instructions, and it did not work. I placed the canned coconut yogurt in the instant pot, without the measuring cup, and added a the store bought brand of "so delicious" coconut yogurt to the mixture. I set the timer to 14 hours and 30 mins overnight and then cooled for 1 day. The results came out soupy, and the smell was unbearable. I do not recommend going this route that is shown in the video. $3-4 dollars wasted.

From other videos I've been watching they typically heat the yogurt to lukewarm temperature before adding the starter or probiotics. Then they set it to the yogurt setting for 24 hours. If you wanted it less soupy you can refrigerate your can of coconut milk and only add the cream and use the water for something else.

Did you add some previous yogurt and/or a probiotic? If it is set on Yogurt, you do not have to add water. Just add the ingredients in a clean bowl as she showed.

@@lucybellescott7531 I’ve tried this three times. Different cultures, cleaning it so well no bacteria is present, different coconut milks. Never worked. I can get plain yogurt to work perfectly though.
