Very smart design with freewheels. The motor can power the rear wheel without rotating the pedals and you can pedal without the motor spinning. Brilliant!

Это не так. Он в итоге приварил звезду, которая на двигателе жёстко и свободного хода там нет. Но в видео этого не показал. Теперь если вращать педали, то двигатель будет оказывать сопротивление.

making a freewheel crank so you arent forced to pedal is actually so damn genius

This video is everything I love about Engineering, teaching, and time outdoors all wrapped into one. Seriously good shit! Way to work with what you have on hand. I think you've inspired me to pop my rarely used hoverboard open. Cheers, mate!

From this to engineering is a long way. However the idea is sound. The execution of the project must be revised. Too many parts are assembled by the eye. The use of a tandem bicycle crank and a well centered sprocket on the motor casing would solve the issues. Also a battery upgrade would help.

perfect, exactly what i was looking for! i was wondering how to best make the pedals stop spinning and your solution is both cheap and elegant!

You made it look easy and you never made a comment about lining up the two chain sprockets which is a must and yours just happened to be perfectly aligned amazing and I love the fact that you did not use four 12 volt batteries

very nice way of keeping the drive line simple and still allowing the pedals to idle when just using the motor. Nice work

Cool build, I've never seen somebody make a freewheel crank before. I think it's easier connecting the motor with chain to a new chain sprocket on the back wheel hub(which already has a freewheel). Cheers!
@databanks6 жыл бұрын
yes but some of those wheel-mounted sprockets mount via rubber clamps on the spokes - also keeping the motor in the driveline constantly. From what I can see, looks like his means you're not fighting the motor when pedaling and removes unbalanced stress from the spokes. It's actually a pretty smart method. Setups like that for those 2 stroke petrol (gas) motors are pretty expensive and this is the first time I've seen someone create one for an electric motor. If my bike crank was a 3-piece instead of 1 piece, I'd be trying my hand at this - for now I'll save it in case I get a chance to in the future. Hell, if I hadn't just given my unfinished tadpole recumbent trike away I could have built one for that
@omshivtiwari5 жыл бұрын
But in that case you cannot use the back gears 😅

He did well... Only concern if too much torque is applied to such a crank and it internally snaps or falters at speed or under heavy torsion... A locknut mechanism could be attached somehow?

Can you please explain to me what just took place there I always thought that I want to have provisions to just utilizeI always wanted to try and work both peddling and the help of an engine electrical gas without removing my pedaling crank system like have some type of free wheel instead of a klutz to the motor side I what I wanted to do was to not be able to get stuck
