Take your fairy furniture to the next level with this enchanting DIY fairy garden bench tutorial. I show you how to make natural-looking fairy furniture using faux stone polymer clay (Premo Gray Granite), lake rocks, and faux moss. I want to provide sculpting principles and experience because I'm thrilled to inspire you to create fairy furniture entirely your own.
This is Part 1 of a two-part series. In this video I go over materials, and I demonstrate sculpting and how to make the wire armature. In Part 2, I will provide tips on painting and I will demonstrate how to use a two-part epoxy glue to add the rocks. Here is the link for Part 2: • How to Make Fairy Furn...

Thank you so much for your wealth of videos with narrative. I am a frustrated sculptor, but no more. Your amazingly clear and creative approaches to seemingly complex execution issues are inspired. I look forward to every video. I'm learning so much.

Thank you for your incredibly encouraging words. In my latest video I use the written word to explain the process. I'd be very curious to know if you found the pumpkin soup tutorial as helpful as the others. Going forward, I may do a combo, some tutorials with narrative throughout, some with less narrative and mostly written words to music. Your feedback on that would be so helpful! :)

Thank you so very much for your tutorials. I'd ordered a little fairy house for my niece to put in her butterfly garden. Then I started looking for little accessories. Holy moly! Crazy expensive! These are absolutely charming. I'm headed to the craft shop in the morning for polymer clay or maybe kids modeling clay and other supplies. Wish me luck.

i should clarify. when i said "narrating", i didnt just mram speaking. The demonstration and visual clarity - along with writing and speaking, really communicate the "how to do it" . The music sets the tone. Personally, I liked hearing you speak. it makes you real and approachable. but i dont think youve gotta be constantly narrating. i do think a combo of verbal and written sounds great. mixing it up too works and keeps it fresh. Funny, when I thought about the pumpkin video, I thought you'd been narrating. I looked at it again, and was really suprised. Maybe because I had watched other videos again. But because you are so clear in your videos, it is as if you were talking me through it.

Hi Caroline, thanks for the inspiring videos. They are really good. I would have like to have seen the wire piece at the begining a little closer but I'm sure I will figure it out. I've been making some fairy furniture so its good to get some ideas from others, especially the wire wrapping you do. I've just been a bit lazy with the glue gun but I will see if I can muster up the patience for it. Also do you bake the clay on this bench? I see you painting it here but not baking it. Will it air dry? Thanks x

Hi +lyndsey Anne, Thank you kindly for your interest, I'm so glad to hear you like my videos! Yes, you do bake it on the wire frame before painting. My next video will be about how to make fairy garden accessories out of clay, so maybe we'll chat again soon! :)

Hello Caroline!!! I'd like to ask if there is a way to use something else other than a clay mashing machine thingy!??🤔if anyone has suggestions please let me know, I noticed it was a whopping $25.99...😅 so is there a cheaper alternative to plaster the clay? Thanks kindly everyone! Bless your videos C! 😘
@sarahong9820
@sarahong9820 7 жыл бұрын
Gisel Gasca What you could do is just condition it as normally (just squish it around until it's soft) and then take two chop sticks and put them on two sides of the clay. After you have that, take some parchment paper, place it on top, and roll it out! Also, sorry that this may not be useful to you anymore.

caroline im so inspired and blown away with this little fairy seat i was wanting to know could you put this in your garden but would you have to bring it in when the weather gets bad, as i live in the uk we dont get alot of sun shine mostly rain xx
@Certainlycaroline
@Certainlycaroline 8 жыл бұрын
Brilliant question, crafty black bird I know polymer clay holds up to the weather very well, and I believe the glues would also hold up, but the Genesis paint I'm not sure of, and the moss... probably not. I do know you'll want to skip the yellow acrylic paint step. I keep the bench on one of my planters in my house. People put varnishes on their creations for outdoor use, but that really messes with the look. I should come up with a weather proof version, or maybe I should conduct some tests... since I want to put one outside for my own garden anyway. Thanks again for the question. :)
