Adding petroleum jelly to the clay to soften or smooth it will affect the strength of the clay so that is probably why it is cracking and crumbling. Use clay softener to soften the clay or isopropyl alcohol to smooth fingerprints away.

Yeah I know this... but forget things. Thanks.
@kurogiza

I agree. If the clay is too stiff, try to use mineral or baby oil instead to soften it, and make sure to knead to thoroughly. That way you won't get layers of clay separated by Vaseline, which can then shear off.

Hey man, I use that stuff too. Let me share the baking trick with you. So, put the mini in the oven while its cold, start heating the oven with the mini inside once it's up to temp (whatever your clay requires) Bake for the duration you need (time*x-per 1/4 inch of thickness, usually 15min) Then, turn off the oven and let the mini cool down in the oven, you can crack the oven open if you like, but let it cool in the pven at least 30min. Lastly, sculpey is good, but Fimo is better. ❤

These guys are really cool, I always love your style. Super sculpey firm is less brittle than original if cosclay is too expensive/hard to get hold of for now (know the feeling), I like a 50:50 mix of the two although if you prefer it softer then clay softener or baby oil works like others have suggested

Love your "Dad Jokes"/"That's What She Said" jokes. Lots of skill you have. I'd like to see an episode in which you build with junk (perhaps a vehicle of some kind) and making a sculpt with the soft thing that gets hard the more you fiddle with it (perhaps the driver, or victim on the receiving end of the vehicle). You know, a 30 minute video. 😁😎 Seriously, I love seeing you build with both. Especially junk. Just seeing your creativity is fun. Keep on keeping on. 👍 Be Excellent to each other and to yourself. Thickness and the material of the wire you use matter when it comes to making armature, for bits bots something flexible and thinner is better, but for something meant to be solid I found a thicker steel wire (about 0.8mm diameter) gives a stronger structure that's less prone to bend after you put your sculpting material on it, just be weary that you won't be able to bend it by hand as easily, in fact if like me you have big dumb fingers it can leave a bit of a mark if you try to do that. Though my experience with armature is mainly with greenstuff, don't know how it'd work with polymer clay, in this regard I wanted to ask, do you use your kitchen oven for "cooking" the clay or do you have an oven made specifically for these things?

Very strange that your minis break this easy. I never had this problem with any polymer clay I used. Do you preheat the oven? If you preheat, the material can get thermal shock, and when you put it in the cool oven it can overheat until it gets to the adjusted temperature. So maybe you need to put something under the mini that helps to equalize the heat. Also you can try to leave it in the oven until it cools down. But that is ridiculously long time. The sculpts are great! My favorite is the spaghetti monster. But Arnie Fishman is cool too! Do you know where can such people be found besides Innsmouth? Maybe in some sewers? :D

Nice mini's! Maybe covering them in UV resin or something will make them less brittle. No idea if that works, just trying to add my brain to this

So u seem pretty good at sculpting and painting smaller minis . d&d 2nd addition in the humanoids book there is a new species of huminiods called surials. There dinosour like races, there are a few dif kinds of them they are all basicly large humanoids maybe a smaller giant size in scale would u ever consider sculpting them .d&d never released a miniature line of this race of dinosaur humanoids I would b very interested in acquiring a like 5 of each of the different kinds of surials

I accidentally started another video about setting micro diamonds while yours was playing...and the two were oddly synchronized. Like mythological "Dark Side Of the Moon" and "The Wizard Of Oz" synchronicity. I thought you were obscuring the bit about you using real diamonds instead of "beads" as a joke. Until you got to the part about the new tool, and the b%tt crack. Yeah. It still sort of fit mind you, because he had started excising around a piece. Anyway, came here from The Crafsman. Cheers!
