We Show you step by step how we make hand soap with horse chestnuts aka Conkers! This diy hand soap not only gets your hands fresh and clean it also gives you the natural goodness from the horse chestnuts & lemon. Horse Chessnuts contain saponins which is a natural soap that's sustainable and creates 0 waste, They contain strong Anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidant properties, plus more.
The Lemon - Lemon oil is naturally anti-bacterial, providing a safe, gentle cleanse with again, a fresh citrus scent

Yoo guys I made it and it actually works and I love the smell too 😌🌱 Thank you so much for this amazing recipe I have finally found a zero waste soap recipe I can easily make without baking soda or castille soap. When I boiled them I was worried if I used too much heat because so much of the water was gone but to my surprise it was actually enough for 1 bottle. Thank you again now I'm relieved because I'm not harming the environment ❤️

0 waste needs to be our aim ❤ I'm in the States and our chestnuts died from disease. There were massive forests in the eastern states to the Carolinas to the Midwest. It was a supplemental seasonal profit. They must've made soap too? English Ivy was popular on houses here but not so much anymore. No one knows they can make soap! I will be looking for wild. It could be planted to grow up trees? I think it grows fast.

Horse chestnut tincture - smashed up seeds with alcohol or veggie glycerin - is actually edible. It's disgusting - and you need to be careful with it - but it's edible. One uses it for vericose veins - of all types - and it's AMAZING for such. Oh! and I loved your video. Loved, loved it!

Very nice! So informative! I've been using soap nuts for some years now, and just by luck, i red an article about the soap nut tree's relative, horse chestnuts :) So now i've collected nuts, seeded them, and allready have a conker-tree growing in my kitchen, ready for planting outside in the spring. I know it will take some years for it to grow flowers/nuts, but until them i'll just collect them from places I know they are growing. Thanks you guys, for a low key, straight forward recipe!

Shame my kids can't play with them with their mates like I used to, but at least using them to make something useful like soap means we can put them to good use. 👍

I'm trying a twist on your hand soap tonight, based on what I have on hand: English ivy, lime, tapioca. I have some lavender water waiting for a use, and I haven't decided if it'll go in or not (maybe half the batch). Though I guess water will thin it out again...hm... I'm in the States. The American Chestnut was abundant till first quarter of 20th century. Invasive disease took them. Projects to restore but it's fragile. I heard Alexander the Great planted the nuts across Europe? Have to wonder how long they were here? Ancient by their size. The Little People and First Nations of long ago. The autobio by Chief Plenty Coups (Koo) Montana Crow who passed in 1933 will tell you about them. Very interesting read if any are interested.

Hello dear family of foragers! I love your book which my husband bought for me for my birthday in July, and I love the videos. I just have one question about this soap. If a child washes their hands with it and then, for example, licks their fingers at some stagein the day, will it be poisonous? Maybe this is a silly question, but just want to check that it is safe. Thank you so much for encouraging people to embrace the wonders of nature with love and respect. Happy Autumn Equinox, Nina.

@homeiswhereourheartis
@homeiswhereourheartis 3 жыл бұрын
Hi 😁 Best way to use it long term is to dehydrate the conkers. You can do this most easily by bashing them up with a hammer then blending them into little bits. Put them in the oven for the lowest heat you got then dry them completely out may take 3 to 6 hours. Put In a tin with a bag of rice job done 😁 We preserve conkers in our conker laundry soap video 🙂
