Tried it love it. Made it on the hot side, 1 red, 1 orange, & 10 jalapeños equaling 4 cups cut peppers.

Great video. You are holding the jar tongs upside down. The rounded rubberized end holds right under the band.

Thank you so much, please consider a few of my requests. * Cowboy candy * Southern corn bread * Tamales * Burritos in a jar * Fried Chicken * Pickles (few dif ways) * Anything with shelf life Honestly there's no limit. This channel will take off if you stay with the "canning" type videos. It's a big deal right now. Also I love the music, but it will be too loud for your older viewers as it is about 2 or 3 notches higher than your voice. Anyhow, Take care! I can't wait to see more sweet short videos from you.

I just made this recipe and as I hear the jars popping, Im praying it tastes as good as it smells. It makes a pretty presentation with my wine jelly’s for the holidays.

GM please flip your jar gripper the black part is your handel. It's a common mistake. The rubber part prevents your jar from slipping.

1 1/2 cups of Red Bell Peppers, 1 cup of Yellow Bell Peppers, 1 1/4 cups of Green Bell Peppers and 1/4 cup of Jalapeno Peppers. Basically 3 1/2 cups of Peppers. I use more Jalapenos with the seeds. 1 cup of apple cider vinegar. 1 box of sure jell (I would have extra just in case it doesn't set). 5 cups of sugar. Use sterile jars and check your altitude for processing time, mine is 10 minutes.

Thank you so much for getting to the point. As an old, longtime Infantryman and one time Drill Sergeant I am usually yelling "get on with it" !! Especially just standing there telling us "what I am about to do" .BEFORE a simple task.. so for you folks that missed that awesome ingredient to this recipe, here is a half cup of fresh, organic "yapping" "what I am about to do is , as you see I have 3 different colors of peppers here, these are red ones and these are green ones and these are yellow ones, and what I am gonna do is take my knife and go over to my cutting board and start to slice and chop these up into small squares, like diced, I am gonna dice the red ones and the green ones, and for the yellow ones i am gonna slice into long slices to be different than the diced red ones and green ones, now remember you could dice the yellow ones, and slice either the red ones or green ones if you want, but i like to slice the yellow ones when i am making my pepper jam and so today I am gonna slice the yellow ones and dice these green ones and these red ones ok?? so lets go over here to the cutting board, and I have my knife here, and so, I will start here with,,, let's see, should we start with the red ones today or the yellow ones?? (proceeds to show 20 minutes of nothing but chopping)

Yes. You can use 4oz jars. You would process the same.

I have heard others have done it. I don’t because the jelly might not set up as well when you double. I don’t know why.... Sorry.

You could, but it would taste very different. Apple cider vinegar is sweeter. I personally have not used white vinegar so I have no idea if it will taste good….

whats the final texture? mine is still runny after cooling and im wondering if i should let it cool longer or add more pectin

Hmm…. This recipe doesn’t get perfectly firm. It should be fine if it moves a bit. It will firm more as it sets. It does resemble more like a jam. Here is a site that gives tips on what to do if it does not set properly: foodinjars.com/2011/08/canning-101-how-to-save-runny-jam/ If you don’t want to go through the process again, you can use the jam as a glaze for things like fish and chicken…

A Fork's Tale thank you for this I'm going to watch it again and try your recipe. You are using your canning tongs wrong you have them upside down. The black part is the handle you hold, green rubber part grips the jars. I only know this because I was doing it the same way, lol it was much harder to grip the jars, and my black handle part melted warped and popped off. lol 😁 when I did the next batch I turned the tongs the right way and waalaaa so much easier. Thanks again best wishes.

@@onearmzak I am sorry. If you go to the link in the post it will give you much more details and tips. Different factors can mess up a jelly from the size of a pan, altitude, more liquid in the peppers....This Pepper jelly will not have the same firmness or texture as a store bought "Welches" jelly. It will be more soft and a little runny. However it should set and firm. This site gives you tips on how to save a runny jelly. foodinjars.com/blog/canning-101-how-to-save-runny-jam/. It also makes a delicious sauce if you want to try using it as that.

Too late now but next time turn them over a few minutes. Then upright. Fruit bites will be distributed evenly in jar.

She forgot to mention that the jars and lids need to be sanitized in very hot water for at least 15 mins before laddling.

Ok, i waited over night to see if this jelled, and it did not. I followed directions to the t. My pectin was not to expire until 2022...so i had every thing done right. Must be a very thin jelly or your recipe is wrong...

Sarah Martin did you actually go to the website? I have tips and more detailed instructions on the website such as how to use the "plate test" to see if the jelly will set, and how to save a runny jelly. However, this Pepper jelly will not have the same firmness or texture as a store bought “Welches” jelly. It will be more soft and a little runny.
