If we wanted a mixed berry jam we would have to freeze some of the berries to accomplish that because they simply don't ripen at the same time. And the grocery store frozen fruit is great for this.

I'm actually new to using Pomona's Pectin but I love it so far. The reduced sugar is HUGE benefit to my family.

This jam is such a rich colour it would be a great gift. It's not your standard single fruit variety.

Frozen fruit is already trimmed and available year round whether it is your own or store bought. It's great!

Frozen fruit and vegetables are harvested at peak freshness rather than picked underripe and shipped. Unless you're growing everything at home, buying the product is necessary. Frozen fruit is a win-win.

I'm happy to hear that. Jam was the first canning product I ever made. My Mom taught me when I was probably 11 year old.

It turned out delicious. Go for it, it can only turn out well. Even if it doesn't set it can be a syrup for icecream or yogurt.

Yes, the metal stove top dissipates the cold and things defrost more quickly. A metal bowl does it too. Together it's even more.

I hadn't made any fruit jams for year either. Just dandelion jelly and lilac jelly. But this is so delicious.

I've made lilac and dandelion jelly in 2022, but I haven't made a fruit jam. I had to give this a try. I am very happy with the results.

I love Blue Berry jam, here in Oregon we have lots of blue berry's. Can't wait till they ripen so I can pick them and make some of your low sugar Jam.... Thank you for sharing this and your great tips using Pomona Pectin....

Yes, absolutely. Just thaw them before making your recipe. Or allow extra time for them to thaw at time of cooking.

I love Pamonas pectin. It makes jam making more economical over all and better for ys with the lower sugar.

I love watching people use Pomona Pectin - I have some but haven't used it yet because I had Sure Jell that I needed to use up first. FYI - if you order from Azure they carry Pomona Pectin - that's where I got mine. This jam looks delicious! Thanks for sharing!

I would love to order a lot of products from Azure. However, I am Canadian and we don't have Azure here. There is no equivalent that I'm aware of in Ontario. I will keep my eyes open for other suppliers. Thanks for watching.

I haven't taken that step yet. I am usually in a hurry to just get the veggies processed that I don't take the time to add meat. I may shift this coming season

We don't eat a large amount of jam here, but I do like to mix it into my yogurt now and then. My type 1 diabetic son can enjoy this with less worry too.

Pomona's Pectin is the magic ticket. You can even use other sweeteners.

Pomona's Pectin is key to this low sugar method. If you have a stockpot, it's a method that could be done while visiting your mom even.

Your jam looks amazing. Thank you for sharing. I used Pomona's Pectin for the first time to make blueberry jam. You can taste the flavour of the fruit without being overpowered by the sweetness of the large amount of sugar required when using other brands of pectin.

I made some No pectin jam last month from frozen berries that we are enjoying. I have never tried pomona's pectin so I may have to check into some of that too.

The package was about $12-$15 Canadian but it makes several batches of jam. I will get at least 3-4 batches from it.

Thank you for sharing this using the Pomona’s Pectin. I've wondered if it sets up and with you showing us the metal measuring cup you used to fill your jars we could see it was. I will be giving this brand a try now. The jam looked so good!

I am pleased that tiny detail helped convince you. This is a great product. The pack cost me $15 Canadian, from Amazon but it will easily make 3-4 or more batches of jam.

Yep, just have to defrost it. Especially when making anything with strawberries and blueberries because they are not in season at the same time.

You make it look so easy to make jam. The last time that I tried to make jam it was storming outside and the electric kept going off and on, so it didn't turn out too good. I won't be trying next time when it's storming either. Live and learn! Thanks for sharing.

I can't make mixed berry jam unless I use frozen fruit. The berries just aren't ripe at the same time.

Exactly. It allows us to not feel so much pressure in the fall. We don't have berries here -yet- so I had to buy grocery store berries. But they are fine for smoothies, so why not for jam? It turned out delicious.

I actually like using frozen fruits for jams. It’s hard to get enough fresh fruit at times in the type that I want. It’s time saving, too.

It really is. They're already cleaned and trimmed. Defrosting them overnight in the fridge even saves on mashing the fruit.

Thank you for doing a video for jam using FROZEN fruit. The price for the pomona's pectin is pretty expensive, but needed. The price is crazy though!!! And I don't know anywhere else to get it from, other than Amazon.

But that $15 packet does 3 or more batches. You can save that much in sugar and pectin if you're using other brands.

Thank you for showing this. I am wondering if this would be a consistency that can be used in yogurt to make my daughter's smoothies. Using her frozen fruit in this way would free up so much space in my freezer

Sure, but keep in mind it will be using some sugar the frozen fruit doesn't have. It is delicious, and lower sugar than most jam.

I’m surprised that as sure as you were to get the correct headspace that you’d try to can the one that was no where close to that. It’ll work fine just put in the fridge.

Yes, it was only about half a cup of jam. I used it on some crackers for me and bread for my husband. A generous taste sampling. It is delicious.
