yet another great video. very useful and handy vs going to the various sites that offer similar, but with cuttle you get to see everything in realtime vs make a change, generate a new document, then make a change, generate a new document, etc... Cuttle just streamlines everything, and simply! Thanks! :D

Hello, informative video. I have a question you may be able to help with. I've been looking for information about finger joints where additional lines are cut into the fingers. I have a box made with laser cut finger joints and the fit is really great without glue. I'd like to know what these lines are called and how they work. I believe they provide a little extra give so that the joint can flex to give a tighter fit but without knowing what they are called it's difficult to confirm.

I am making cabinets for tool and parts storage in my workshop. The cabinets will have dado cut sides (e.g. 1/4" +.125") for slide in panels with a box on top. the slide in panels will be .5" wider than the box. This will allow the panels to slide into the dado's with a a bit of room to spare. Will save on expensive slides and still be quite functional. How would I accomplish this with Cuttle?

Great video This question might be out of the scope of the video, but how do you get the great look on the wood? Nicely cut with dark sides (not burnt). I see the tape, this is great

Having masking on both sides of the material will prevent burn marks on the face of your pieces. In this video we used Glowforge's Proofgrade Medium Draftboard -- all of Glowforge's materials come pre-masked. You can also find other material suppliers who sell pre-masked material, or you can buy your own wide masking tape and mask your material yourself. This is the tape roll I'm currently working through: www.jpplus.com/paper-masking-for-laser-engraving?sku=LASGLASS-RL This one has been recommended on the Glowforge forum though I haven't used it personally amzn.to/3ibC3HE Hope this helps. -Toby

Good question! One option is to cut a rectangle that's the outer width/depth of the box and a second rectangle that's the inner width/depth of the box. Then glue these together and you have a lid that fits inside. I'll work on a template that does this automatically. Thanks for the suggestion!

i dont understand this program. im trying to resize a coffin box and nothing makes sense, i cant make the walls change accordingly to the lid and back parts. i can get one to change, but not both. its adding more teeth to the walls that dont correspond to the number of holes in the lids..im so confused. i just want to scale the coffin box up to 13 inches tall. can you help me?

Hi, I assume you're talking about the Coffin Box project that user bwente shared. This one: cuttle.xyz/@bwente/Coffin-Box-KYOxvYPF0HtI I'm looking at it and it looks like bwente added a "scaleShape" parameter to make it easy to make the coffin bigger. To use this: 1. Go to the URL cuttle.xyz/@bwente/Coffin-Box-KYOxvYPF0HtI 2. Click "Edit in Cuttle" on the top 3. In the right panel, expand the area labeled "Coffin Box" (click the triangle next to it) 4. Next to "scaleShape", click the 1 and change it to 2.65 (type that in). 5. File > Export SVG This project was not created by us (it was shared by another user, bwente), but hopefully these instructions will help. -Toby
