So I participated in Wills workshop and while I can't myself dedicate to it as I'm paying for and partway into another series of courses. I do think Will is quite good as a teacher, he most importantly loves the music and knows what he's talking about. At the end of the day like many others he's selling a course. From the looks of it, it's well thought out, professional and organized. And he certainly has positive feedback from previous students. Also I think he presents his information in a way that is easier to absorb than a number of other instructors. It is something I'll reconsider if I'm dissatisfied at the end with the courses i'm currently taking in terms of mixing and mastering.

Most of what hes teaching in the edm theory course you can learn watching his youtube videos. There are some good stuff that he hadn't included in his youtube videos but most is.the mixing course is much better. Gets into much more detail still find it a tad vague tho the reason for it is there would be no point in having a accelerator program if everything was available in the online courses. I cant see a mastering course. Im not sure about the future house e.c.t because I dont make house so I cant comment on that tbh. Its a good group of courses if you dont know much about musoc production but if you know loads already for e.g. you know. Hoe to use compressors and eqs, effects you can write melodys and make your own sounds I would personally not waste your time or money and just buy the mixing or what ever course the area that you need to improve on. I really wouldn't buy the edm music theory. Its not worth it.

Amazing video Will! Thank you for featuring my song “Lost” with Culture Code & Medyk! Just wanted to leave some extra tips here! :) Having a dedicated white noise would give a more levelled high end and not having build up The mid basses should have more upper mids/mid highs as they will blend with chords and leads The chords in the drop could also been good with another mid layer that’s a tad more more mono! Pretty spot on video Will, look forward to another video from you! 🙂

Cool video Will, but one thing that confuses me to no end about melodic dubstep is how similar it seems to future bass. I've even tried asking someone who makes melodic dubstep commonly, and he couldn't even pinpoint the difference other than the sources "where it comes from" and various nuances in the processing I guess.

When you anchor the kick to -12 dB, is there a difference between pulling down fader and lowering volume on sample? Thanks for another great video
@edgartheincredible
@edgartheincredible Жыл бұрын
His reason for lowering it on the fader is to create headroom in the full mix of things. If u plan on processing the kick on the channel it’s on before it gets to the master bus, I would lower it in the sample as well so there’s headroom for processing on the channel. If the sample is at 0.0 , it might be too loud already for any room for processing. Hope this helps

great tutorial. it is really hard to write melodic dub in c major. the bass just doesn't hit in that sclale and the chords arent as in your face. C major just isn't euphoric enough for melodic dub IMO. Just my two cents from making the style regularly.

@@EDMTips absolutely. but you are spot on and its easy to change key. Just wanted to put here in comments for people to try some sharps or flats like ab minor is great. if you think of like heavy UK dubstep it basically translates to the relative minor a lot of times. Like f minor and ab major are great to write melodic dub. same goes for other flats. can get really pretty melodys along with heavy bass.
@9WorldsMusic
@9WorldsMusic Жыл бұрын
Cmaj and minor can be good keys to write in but the basses need overtones in 80hz and around 120hz. It all really depends on the mixing if you want better bass in this scale! But overall D-A is usually the best for bass!
@wylybrown2493
@wylybrown2493 Жыл бұрын
@@9WorldsMusic understood. my point basically is that there is a reason there are only very few melodic dub songs in a minor or c major. The ones that are don't quite have the huge chord and bass sound that others do to me.
