You probably won’t see this because the video was posted so long ago but I had to say that this brought me so much joy. My mom was known for her caramel cakes. My dad made the cake and she made the icing. She passed away in 2006 and my dad and I could never get the consistency right. Now he’s gone too and especially now at Christmas I just wish I could have a taste of home. Your video is the first one I’ve seen that has the EXACT color icing she used to make. Does the sugar get real hard, when cooking it at first

One of the greatest travesties that our family did not do, was to get Granny's caramel icing recipe before she passed away 6 years ago. No one in the family can make the icing like she could. I'm going to use your recipe to see if it tastes like my Granny's caramel icing. I do think one of the differences, is that she used Borden sweet condensed milk.
