Quick hitters. With poker I like to learn the invidivual pieces of the process. So like "this signal means tendency x" and then "exploit tendency x but doing this"

One of my favorite plays is to snap call with a very strong hand on earlier streets. I found that people have a lot of trouble putting me on top of range when I do this.

Catching up on your stuff today, happy to see the OOP vs the x back TPTK type of player node. There are a fair number of them in the pool here. I had already began to adjust and not take a range check strategy vs them so that I wouldn't miss a street of value when I had a value hand. What you said about when you have a bluff makes sense, delaying gratification to the river. I probably have been coming out and betting the turn too often when in fact I should give them another opportunity to bet instead. I think I worry that I need to be able to "Tell them twice" that I have a hand when I bluff which is going to be tough if they check the turn back. Generally, are we just giving up on rivers in this line, or is there perhaps some latitude for breaking the "Tell them twice" principle and blasting the river against their now capped range?

Love the content bro, looks like you've found a niche - rapid fire, high value, practical lessons. TY KZfaq algorithm for the suggestion! I'm not sure about tip #4 where Villain Xs river OOP with TPTK after all the draws brick. Are you implying that is a bad check? I'd definitely consider checking that spot to allow IP to bluff with missed draws. Without solving, I feel like checking, blocking and value betting all have merit there and therefore not be likely to consider the Villain that Xs over TPTK to be making an exploitable mistake, and certainly not from just 1 showdown. What do you think?

Around 4:00 you talk about how our opponent has a polarized range and that we want to start check raising a lot. My understanding of theory was that against a polarized range we want to do a lot of calling to allow their bluffs to continue bluffing. If our opponent has nuts or air, isn't check raising small allowing them to play perfect? They get to fold out their junk, and continue with their nuts and draws in position.

really good question. i would call with our value + our nutted draws to keep them barreling with worse and so we don't value own ourselves. with our worse draws, raising small is pretty nice because we get to fold out some air that is better, and fold out their monkey bets that beat our hand. in general, when they're betting polar - raise air small, value huge. when they're betting linearly - raise value small, air huge.

You've said that if a villain is just cold calling 3-bet with ak , then every 4-bet from him is only aa or kk. What if they differentiate their 3-bet or 4-bet range? I guess some of them know the trick

Hi Marc. Started watching your videos from a reference from Andrew neeme from his vlogs. Can you do a video on how to punish an extremely passive over limping table? I play at elements casino in victoria BC and even when I raise 7x or 8x I get called by 4/5 people that only know how to limp call almost every time. I started online and home games in person where I studied GTO which worked really well. I turned 19 recently and realized at live cash games GTO doesnt work?

hey yes! can definitely jump into this. just a couple notes. 1) check out how to exploit every player type if you haven’t. some clues in there how to deal w limpers. 2) gto is exploit and exploit is gto. the solver is the best player in the world if you give it your opponents strategy. the gto strategy is max exploit and vice versa! happy to jump into this topic in more depth tho cuz a lot of people struggle with it

I think the more difficult part is to realize that a villain does these things on a regular basis. You usually dont spend enough time playing with alot of live players to assume a certain player always checks back top pair or doesnt raise a set on a wet board.

That’s funny. I intentionally buy in for like 115Bbb in a 150bb cap game so that people try to exploit me early. The regs know that trick but I catch the recs all the time

recreational players are recreational because they’re there for fun. they are not good at poker. doing something so recs try to exploit you is disingenuous because THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO EXPLOIT. if you truly have an edge in the game, buying in for less than the max is lighting money on fire.

@@hungryhorsepoker I get ya. Here in stl, the game is mainly bad regs. So maybe that’s what I meant rather than recs. We have a lot of rec type tourney players that read a few books and look for those basic tells. They are the easy ones to exploit because you will stack them. They call the 150bb preflop Jams with 88 and shit like that when you are correct, I’m going to have TT+ AK. Typically, the limp reraise works best from the bb when there is a button straddle on. You have a premium. You wanna play for all of it. But if you raise to like 30 now, you are gonna get the water fall. Better let the wannabe pros “attack all that dead money” just to get jammed on

More likelier than average: Buys in less than the table norm/ or small.. poor player Sits out bomb pots.. under bluffs Limps a lot .. loose fish Limp re raiser... prob AA or KK, and opens weaker Sits out table straddles.. under bluffer Opens very large... probably a pretty good hand. Consider big re raise Calls 3bets OOP way too much... Three bet linear and larger Buys in with cash is probably a fish Buys in with chips or from box.. more likely not a big fish People lining up chips neatly with stripes aligned... probably conservative player

Funny enough I got to put this into practice yesterday. I had J9 suited and the flop came Q, T, 5 rainbow. Check raised the villain on the turn for a 5x sizing and snapped me off. Bet all in for around a pot sized bet and snapped me off again with KQ. (Top pair by the river)

@@hungryhorsepoker not mean to be disrespectful in anyway. I’ve been a cash wining player for over a decade, in live games 90% of players are fish. They won’t fold top tops unless board is extremely wet and connected. I’ve NEVER seen someone folding top top in the scenario you’ve illustrated

@@hungryhorsepoker I think it just depends on the game. Player by player basis as is with everything (and I think you’ve mentioned this in this video or another one going over a similar spot). Some players aren’t good enough to fold top top. So the adjustment is to just value bet and get all the money in when they’re never folding regardless of action.
