Just wanted to come on here and give a heartfelt thank you for these cooking videos. My mom passed recently, and I spent so much time putting off learning her recipes by heart because I just kept taking for granted that we had all this time. She was Mexican and Puerto Rican but all she cooked was Puerto Rican food. I just made this and almost teared up. It tastes just like her cooking. Thank you so much for giving me back a little piece of my mom. 🙏

Mira mama, Puerto Rican style? Lol we all cook different. I'm 100% born and raised in Puerto Rico. Some people have different taste buds. Your cooking is awesome! There is always people criticizing. Instead of encouraging they live to put others down. No le hagas caso. Keep doing your cooking tutorial and keep your followers happy :) weeeeepaaaaa!!!!! 😄

There are many types of olives though and how they are preserved changes things up. I personally like black olives and that might be because the ones I get are often preserved in white vinegar which has a nice taste to it.

Exactly right. I love olives too, unfortunately I have to put them on the side though, my husband & boys will straight up refuse to eat them... if they see them (doesn't stop me from using a little of the brine in the cooking- just another "something's missing" they'll have to ask about when they are older)

***** Usually in recipes when something says "add ___ to taste", this is what they're suggesting. If the water tastes a little bland or not "seasoned" enough, you'd add what more you feel would compliment the recipe more.

This is the version I make for years now and it’s always delicious. I also make her homemade sofrito. If “authentic” meant everyone did it the exact same way, then everyone’s food would taste the same. In every cultural there are differences from Cook to cook. I learned how to make this from Aida on KZfaq and I love it! If your family make theirs differently that’s fine this is her recipe and it’s FANTASTIC!! Plus if you know how to make it why are you watching.I don’t look up dishes I can cook, since I don’t like wasting my time. I always watch it before I cook to ensure I do not forget anything, thanks Aida🤗🤗🤗😘

Looking forward to a sancocho and patele video! I want to thank you for your videos. My mom passed when I was 15 and was very sick before that. I miss her cooking and have been on the hunt for recipes and have been trying to find alot of ingredients.I moved from New York to Maryland and you don't find puerto rican cuisine here. Thank you.Your videos are great and easy!
