Thanks for your thought. Actually that was my very first question that I had myself at the beginning. I have the physical book 'The Sansevieria trifasciata Varieties' by Juan Chahinian, and according to this book, it says 'Moonshine' grows up to 30 cm (12 in.) which is kind of short like you mentioned. Based on the book, I figured the only way to distinguish between 'Moonshine' and 'Silver Queen' is to propagate by leaf cuttings. 'Silver Queen' propagates true from leaves and 'Moonshine' does not. So, to find out, I did propagate my plant by leaf cuttings, and it reverted. And as shown in my video, the smallest plant has wide leaves which is about 4 inches wide. Thus, I concluded my plant is 'Moonshine' based on these facts. I think the book wrongly stated that 'Moonshine' grows short. By any chance, did you try growing Moonshine in a big & deep pot like mine? My experience tells me that the height depends on the pot size. And also placing in a west-facing window indoors might make a difference too. But I would love to learn if there is any additional way to distinguish between the two cultivars. Color & inflorescence are identical according to the book.

Or maybe I have both? I guess the only way to find out is to propagate the tall ones by leaf cuttings. This will be fun.

@@SnakePlantCollector The pot size only matters if the cultivar is really long leaf for you to reach 3ft to 5ft you need the deep or very big pot. However, if the cultivat is short leaf(hahnii type or dwarf) or Future type(compact wide leaves, there is a limit to their leaf growth. Short leaf is about 6 inches no longer. Wide leaf or compact which moonshines belong to is limited to 2ft. FULL size or long leafs grow to a more than 2ft up to 5ft

Yes, I agree. I thought I only had one type and not both 'Moonshine' and 'Silver Queen'. When the plants were gifted to me in 2018, they were baby pups and I didn't get the variety names from the original owner. They looked identical at that time, so I thought they were both 'Moonshine'. But now I think I have both type. Yesterday, I repotted & started leaf cutting propagation of the tall one that you said it is 'Silver Queen'. Let's see how this goes.

To promote a little more growth with fresh soil. The plant was in that pot for like 4 years. Since it was growing in garden soil, I wanted to provide more nutrients before it shows any sign of nutrient deficiency.

I believe fertilizer will help the plant from time to time and I think the outcome of moving Snake Plants outdoors will significantly depend on the environment. Some of my Snake Plants like to be outdoors during summer.
