How to make sweetened condensed milk .Simple quick hack how to make condensed milk. This recipe will save you lots of money and hopefully once you make this you will never buy store bought again. It takes 2 ingredients well 3 if you count the salt :) It keeps in the fridge and can be used in cakes, ice cream and many other baking recipes.
Ingredients for How to make easy condensed mil
Whole Milk 24 fluid ounces
Granulated sugar 1 cup
salt 1/2 tsp
Mix the milk and sugar together and put on a medium heat reduce down to about just under half the original amount of milk stir constantly whilst simmering to avoid sticking. store in the fridge for 2-3 weeks.

About 40 years ago someone gave me this recipe. I never used the recipe because I was always cutting back on sugar anyway. But I’m going to make Keylime pie so I needed the condensed milk. Glad I found your recipe. I use some coconut sugar and Stevia.

I’m about to make condensed milk, The good thing about making things yourself is that you can adjust it to how you like it. I’m going to make ice cream with this recipe, It seems to take a bit of time, but the recipe seems pretty simple so I’m going to try it out

This is good to know! Rose, I immediately thought of making ice cream when I saw the title of your video. I seldom do that because I'm hesitant to buy the condensed milk. Well you have just enlightened me to be able to make my own. Now, we don't eat a lot of sweets but once in a while there comes a need and Ice Cream fits the bill. Plus, if you make your own it can be any flavor. Can't wait for your ice cream making video!

Thanks Terry sorry for the late reply :) not enough hours in the day !! i started making condensed milk when the prices soured this is so cheap it costs around 20-30p instead of £1.30 so a huge saving. Nice! Im making ice cream and started questioning whats in that can labeled condensed milk. I made a commitment to not eat the crap offered at the supermarket and was disappointed when i saw a main ingredient was canned. Problem solved! This looks way, way better.

Thanks Mel for your great comment I am not sure how to speed it up but it really only needs a little stir every now and again and I usually get on with other stuff and come back to it :) it is so much cheaper than buying it by about 90 percent :) it is so costly here in the uk cheers my dear friend hugs Rose :)

Another excellent presentation and what a super recipe ! Never knew how this was made before, but it’s always been my downfall. As I could eat a tin full to myself my father once told me he used to enjoy sandwiches of this when he was a boy too just after the First World War! Never lost his taste for them either! Lol! ! I made condensed milk for 2 cups and 2/3c sugar and it reduced by a lot. More than half. Using canned coconut milk/cream for condensed milk was easier and was reduced by half.

Thank you for this guide, I always make tablet around Christmas and thinking the four ingredients of sugar, milk, butter and condensed milk are all really just sugar and milk in different states I could make it with just these two ingredients. Or make a massive mess and give up.

I just made it and it turned grainy. I don’t know what I did wrong. Any ideas? It was on a very low simmer for about an hour and then started to thicken and when I went back to stir it again it was all grainy.
