Crab Imperial is an easy, elegant dish made with fresh lump crabmeat. The crab is the star of the show, so you don’t want to overwhelm it with a lot of ingredients. Served as an appetizer, stuffed into veggies or elegantly into lobster, shrimp, salmon or any fish of your choice, your tastebuds will thank you! YOU are the cook🤗.. add or subtract ingredients to your taste! Make it your own!! I’m glad I get to inspire🥰! #seafood, #food, #fish,#easy
INGREDIENTS:
1 Pound Lump Crab Meat
2 Tbs. Fresh Minced Parsley
1 1/2 Cups Mayonnaise
1 1/2 Tbs. Dijon Mustard
1 Tbs, Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
1 Tbs. Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
1 tsp. Celery Salt
Paprika to sprinkle
* substitute celery salt with Chesapeake (Old Bay Seasoning ) if desired .
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Make sure your crabmeat is picked through to remove shells.
If using canned lump crabmeat, make sure it is thoroughly drained.
Gently add crabmeat into medium sized bowl.
Add the minced parsley to the crabmeat and set aside. Don’t mix yet.
In separate bowl, combine mayo, dijon, worcestershire, pepper, lemon juice and celery salt.
Stir with a spoon until thoroughly incorporated.
If you have large pieces of crab, you’ll need less Imperial Sauce, and more if the crab is fine or shredded.
Add half the sauce to the crab, and very gently to not break up the lumps, stir with a spoon or toss with your hands. You don’t want the crab too goopy, just lightly covered. You can add more to taste/ consistency.
Using single serving au gratin dishes, scallop/ clam shells or casserole dish, very lightly place the crab into your container of choice. If all the mixture is placed into a casserole dish it may need a couple more minutes in the oven than single servings.
Don’t press the mixture in. Leave it light and airy.
Drizzle or spoon some or all (depending on taste) of the remaining imperial sauce on top.
Sprinkle with paprika.
Bake at 400 degrees F for approx 12 mins. ( couple more mins for casserole )

@@cindycertified OMG it was so freaking good 👍. I'm glad I made a big batch and saved half because we're having it again tonight!! I can't leave a good recipe alone so you know I had to put my spin on it but I just replaced the celery salt with old bay, added a little bit of fresh red onion, jalapenos, 2 tsp lemon juice and a splash of worsterchire. My husband literally woke up at 530 this morning talking about having it again with eggs 😂 even for breakfast that he never eats. Tonight I will pair it with some eggs and grits.

Yeah no Krab allowed in the IMPERIAL version .. my crab Rangoon recipe is totally different..but I guess you could use this recipe for Rangoon’s

Did you add extra sauce to the top of the dish before baking it ? It looks by the picture that there is a topping in the center of the finished dish

@@joeschooner yes! I did add extra imperial sauce on top before cooking . I have it in my description under “ directions” .. however in my early video “ nervous “ in front of the camera days I didn’t realize I forgot it until I had already put them in the oven and had to take them out to put it on!😳🫣🤪. So.. unfortunately not in the video .. but in the instructions 🤗.

DANG!!! REALLY?? I know Amazon sells it . There’s a company I use if I can’t find a particular spice called “Whole Spice.” I’ve been to Lake Placid NY, and there was a very cool grocery store there called “ Price Chopper”. So I don’t know where you are in NY. So prob not instant gratification… but certainly mail orderable😉. I hope that helps 😊 Thanks for watching my channel and subscribing!! Means A LOT!!

Hi! You can spoon the extra on top of the crab before it goes in the oven and it makes more of a golden top ( crust) but won’t be crusty ! It hides the crab so for video sake I didn’t do it 😇! Thanks for asking and I hope you give it a shot and totally love it!! Have a nice day!

Hi! I would think cream cheese would make more of a dip style consistency. I would think too that even room temp cream cheese being a lot thicker consistency than Mayo could break up your nice lumps of crab too much when stirring it all together. HOWEVER… I like shaking up culinary norms once in a while ! So maybe try a small batch so if you don’t like it you haven’t used up too much of a normally pricey ingredient ( crab) . Maybe try adding some sour cream to it also to lighten up the texture if you have it. If you give it a go, send a comment on what you think ! 😁

There are several substitutions you can make. One is all sour cream or plain Greek yogurt . Or add 1/4 c cream cheese to the sour cream . Or there’s this version: In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Add the lemon juice and Dijon mustard, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer the sauce for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving. Crème Fraiche is yet another option 🤗

Lol! Didn’t forget it. But you can choose to add it. Celery salt is the main flavoring here. A component of Chesapeake. Sometimes too, when you have super fresh lump crab, less is more😁. Thanks for watching and your suggestion 🤟
