In today's video we're making the Bramble! This modern classic combines botanical gin with tart lemon and rich crème de mûre (blackberry liqueur). Served over crushed ice, the presentation is eye-catching and the taste is outstanding - bright and refreshing with a berry sweetness rounding it out. I've seen many variations on this drink, but it's hard to top the original. Hope you try this one! If you don't have crème de mûre, a raspberry liqueur can easily be substituted for an equally delicious cocktail! Cheers, everyone!

I started playing with cocktails at the bar I work at, and the bramble was the one of the first ones I found, it has been so insanely popular with our guests that it is now a permanent part of the menu. Although blackberry liqueur is nearly impossible the find (I live in rural Virginia) so I always substitute raspberry liqueur. It is definitely one of my favorite cocktails.

When I have made this drink, I start by muddling a few blackberries in the tin. I think it adds a freshness to the cocktail. This is a favorite summer drink at our house. Love your videos. Cheers!

Same. I rarely have Creme de Mur at home. So I either use blackberry syrup. Which is fine but frsh blackberries are the best.

So this is great. I didn't have any blackberry syrup, but thought this recipe might work with the Cherry syrup that came with my luxardo cherries. And then I garnished it with cherries as well. It still turned out really good even with the small tweak. Thank you for the inspiration!

Love to see you covering this cocktail. I finally got a bottle of creme de mure about tow weeks ago. I have made so many brambles. I've been fascinated by it ever since my grandfather ordered one from a supper club in Sturgeon Bay. Never seen it on a menu in Wyoming though.

I make this a lot, but with fresh blackberries instead of berry liqueur. My wife and I prefer the fresh fruit taste over the sweet syrupy liqueur. I also do riffs with raspberries or strawberries. And I prefer Beefeaters because it has that slight lemon-citrusy taste. And I switch bourbon for gin from time to time. Finally, I sometimes throw in a sprig of mint or basil to muddle with the berries. All of these variations just bring out the summer tastes that we love so much

I definitely like the Bees Knees, the Negroni, a Gin Rickey, the Pink Lady (which shares Gin and apple brandy as it's liquor), the intro to Aperol (which has a light pour of gin and Aperol is the main star), and the Aviation #1 (weird but great). That said, the Bramble beats all those drinks for me, but blackberries are one of my favorite fruits of all time so it has an unfair advantage. But if you're still looking for gin drinks definitely check some of those out if you haven't already.

Hey Anders, just wanted to say you are fantastic. I was a jack and coke, basic guy before your show. You have opened my taste up to so much more. The wife and I typically watch you on our TV so I don't take the time to comment, but this episode in particular, sparked my wife's interest in mixing a drink herself. And I must say, what a success! Keep up the good work and great content. And let's not forget Az! Even though her role on screen is typically the Angostura to your old fashioned, we all know she steals the show at times!

I've been trying to come up with a Buffalo NY theme cocktail for an upcoming tailgate. I settled on using Loganberries, which is a cross between a blackberry and a raspberry, and a quick search lead me to a Bramble. I then thought to look up to see if you had video for it because I love your variations and possible substitutions. The timing was perfect and I can't wait to make my version of this with loganberries soon.

Anders delivers another refreshing cocktail in time for summer. Great alternative suggestions if you don't have creme de mure. I also like a fresh blackberry muddle in glass in lieu of creme de mure (take simple up to 3/4oz (or to taste)).

Thanks for making this video. This has become one of my favorite drinks. I can’t find creme de mure locally so I made my own using a recipe from The Educated Barfly. The rich sweetness of the creme de mure balances the tartness of the gin and lemon juice so well. What a refreshing summer cocktail! Love your channel, thanks for all the instruction!

You will be good as long as it's punchy enough to stand up to the creme de mure. I like using Tanqueray for it because it's a solid proof and is punchy.

Love the video. When I spoke to people who also worked with Dick, I remember they always told me, that the drink was just build in glass, on crushed ice, which made it even quicker and awesome - especial on a crowded night or a busy house party

Soo, I was like I have to make this drink. I did not have the Combier Crème de Mûre, but looking through my selection I come across Bombay Bramble Gin. So, I used that and all other ingredients adding an ounce more simple syrup. Delicious!

I had never tried blackberry liquor and this sounded like a great recipe. Was able to find the same bottle of Creme de mure that you had. This drink is FANTASTIC! If you find a bottle of Creme de mure around I highly recommend trying this recipe

Yeah, I had my high life in the 80-90th. I remember traveling to Paris, the popular aperitif was Champagne de Mure, where de Mure was at the bottom of the champagne glass. I love blackberries in any composition, Gin even more. Thanks Anders to bring up de Mure again to the drink😋

Just did tonight the recipe, I'm a Gin's haters and now I love it with this Recipe. I put just a little bit less simple syrup. I tried one also with Strawberry balsamic shrub instead of Creme de mure,very good.

This was one of the first cocktails I ever made on my own, I used the Serious Eats recipe (I think they no longer have the version that I used on their website, this was back in the aughts and the most recent recipe they have listed was 2019 but I remember the recipe from the aughts had you muddle the blackberries)
