well done! back here in new zealand we dont use fancy jigs or slot guides no sir we just slot them in by hand and id say no slower than wot i see there. done it that way for last 30yrs and counting. hey good to see a fellow rewinder at work however long ago it was.

we make coreless motors. saves the headache of slow winding and is much more energy efficient. this is ancient technology. the motor may just turn into a fossil. any way this reminds of our prehistoric past. Good video. gave it a thumbs up though.

great technique and a very beautiful song

This seems to be a two pole machine with a capacitor starting winding or one where the second coil is kept in circuit for a higher torque. This is a good method but I believe the coils have to be slightly greater than if the coils are inserted in anther longer time consuming method. Since the coils are so very lose, they have to be tied very well as the vibrations of the coil will cause them to rub against one another which will cause the enamel insulation on the wire to fail. When I worked with Admiralty after we tie down the winding very tightly, we put it in a vacuum camber which was heater to take away all the vapour and then open up a valve and the shellac will drown the core and solidifying the winding so that it would not vibrate in the slots. Sometimes we made bar winding and those had to be hand wound with patience, The most difficult encounter with windings was the solid bar winding of the starter motors as being DC they had to be first inserted ever so slowly and then bent to cater for the relative position on the commutator risers. There were also wound AC rotors and with those the winding had to be kept in place by steel wires wound on the rotors and arranging for an ingenious joint after winding a few turns of steel wires. I never wound large motors or Generators and just to look at them, they are a work of art, somewhat like lace making . Beautiful craft and skills that one does not see often, but the person who thinks of the tool making required to ease the work of an electric motor winder needs to be able to see mental pictures in three dimensions. Sometimes I wonder how many people would be able to grasp the logic of the wave and lap winding of an armature for high voltage and high current operations, and how those current paths can be made in parallel or in series. To wind a Shrage motor would be the ultimate winding experience one can ever have in this field and if one needs to have a brain teaser to exercise this mind I suggest one should think of the different winding that there are with one pairs or multiple pairs of poles, Once I used a cotton thread to replace the winding on a wooden armature ( slotted discs on a shaft) just to present it as a work of art similar to crochet, tatting or lace making, and the exhibit got a lot attention and those present were surprised to know that the beauty they were seeing is present but so invisible in all the fans, washing machines, fridges , and all their comforts in their home. Such beauty hidden to the human eye and there are so many silly looking portraits hanging on the walls in people's home. There is more unseen and hidden beauty in the universe than ever the eye can see. And I am not even mentioning the beauty of the Electromagnetic fields that circulate around those slots. Truly a magnificent sight it would be. People who know can appreciate it all in their imagination and now in a computer simulation.

It would be interesting to know where to put the magnet on the rotor if that motor should be turned in to a permanent magnet generator does anybody know ? i don´t think is just that easy to put them north south north south i know that it is possible to turn a 3 phase Induction motor to a permanent magnet generator i think all 3 phase Induction motors are winded the same way
