ok ive been doing this another way i made my kicks clip on purpose and then i put the soft clipper on it to lower the frequencies back to 0db (or even lower in the mixing process) but still get the "artifacts" that clipping gives you cause i like the sound im talking aggressive underground production tho, i know this is not something a super professional producer in a studio would do thanks again for the nice tutorial bro im learning a lot on your channel

this is not even a gain staging tutorial, but it's was much more straightforward than any gain staging tutorial I've watched so far, and the others didn't even get into how to gain stage between insert plugins. brief, but with lots of useful information. keep it up!

can you use a soft clipper on individual drum channels and then still put a soft clipper on the master channel too?

the soft clipper works for mastering beats as well right? say i have headroom of -6db and then compress & boost back up with soft clipper for loudness...do i HAVE to bring it back to -6 or can i keep boosting it till it hit zero lol

I usually clip the fuck out of my kicks and 808s till I can't hear a normal waveform no more. I always crank up everything in Fruity limiter and put soft clipper & fast distort & some light eq2 on every channel.

Can we just ADD the soft clipper to the master channel at the final mix And kinda use it to maximize the beat as well as making the kicks knock harder... Or Do we add the soft clipper to the kick separately in the kicks channel during the mixing process, then add a limiter to the final master channel; Basically using both ?????

i wouldnt do fl clipper on master tho but use multiband (D16 devastor 2) or spetral clipper (Eventide Saturate), because FL clipper make sound too soft and dark, but it's matter of taste ofc.
