TFS. I did this with plain copy paper and it work really good, I applied several coats, but let them each dry before I applied the other. And it turned out really clear.

Many have done this method of making vellum, but said there is always remaining oil that will come through onto whatever is laid on it. Such as another page in a journal etc. Someone did a test to see if over time the oil would "dry", but even after a few months, oil was released. Thought you may want to do a test before using in a journal or such.

What other paper can i use if i do not have a printer to copy pictures?
@marieblundellnumber29creative9 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for taking time to watch. You could use any paper ready printed, for example old book illustrations or printed craft paper, but it has to be a matte finish to absorb the oil. Shiny or magazine paper won't work. Hope that helps. 😊

I tried this method and the result was great but when i used it later in my journal it left stain in the other paper 😅😭 what to do?
@marieblundellnumber29creative4 жыл бұрын
That's a shame. I think you have to leave it for a long time before you use it, between sheets of kitchen paper and under some weight.
I wasn't going to watch this video, cos I figured it was something I just wouldn't do, but KZfaq had other ideas & I ended up watching it & became hooked! A very impressive technique, Marie. There was a clear change after treatment so it was an excellent experiment! Very cool! ❤

At the price of vellum this is a real great alternative! TFS... So all we need to do is print first and oil later! I have tried Vaseline before and that works too to keep fountain pen ink that t isn't waterproof from running but it will make paper translucent...so in a pinch grab Vaseline. I thought someone mentioned if you don't have Time Holtz micro glaze use Vaseline. Worth a try!
@marieblundellnumber29creative6 жыл бұрын
Nancy LeMieux Thank you Nancy. I haven't tried printing after treatment with oil so I don't know if it takes the ink but I will give it a try. 😊
@nancylemieux80586 жыл бұрын
Just be careful it doesn't oil up your printer....might be better to print first, I think the ink would not penetrate the paper and the ink jet type ink might just bead up on it. t might be messy!!

Hi Elaine, thank you. The ink was Tim Holtz distress ink pad probably Vintage Photo or Walnut Stain. I've said to other people if you try it then it's best left for a few days weighted between sheets of absorbent paper. This will hopefully stop any oil transfer. 🤗

Thank you so much for sharing. This is so cool! So it won't smear the ink on prints made from an ink jet printer?
@marieblundellnumber29creative6 жыл бұрын
JournalJourneys51 it hasn't been a problem for me, thanks for watching. If you try it then leave your finished paper for a few days so the oil absorbs, I would put between sheets of paper towel and weigh down. 😊

I'm thinking you can use mineral oil as well. Though baby oil can be had for cheap at the dollar store. Any veggie or nut oil would go rancid and start smelling after a while, so I don't think I would use that.

thank you for the video, interesting technique, when you use this vellum paper in a junk journal and sandwich it between 2 non-treated pieces of paper, do you find that the untreated paper will wick the baby oil from the vellum at all?
@marieblundellnumber29creative5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Leslie. I found that you need to ensure the paper is left between absorbent paper and under some weight until you are happy that all oil is absorbed. However no technique is foolproof 🤔

Will this affect the other paper close by because of the oil ?? Ink jet printer used. ?
@marieblundellnumber29creative5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sherry. My advice would be to make sure the oiled paper is left between absorbent paper and under some weight until you are happy with it, I can't guarantee that oil won't leach. I printed designer sheet on inkjet printer. I don't know about putting oiled paper in printer.
