There are a couple of possible reasons behind the 'drizzle drizzle' phenomenon. One, of course, is just the comedy of reversing the situation to throw it back into women's faces. This is satire: comedy whose purpose is to correct social wrongs. The women's attitudes that are being thrown back are not sustainable and stem from deep psychological issues within the women. So satire is certainly justified. The fact that it hits home and makes some women furious shows it's effective. They see the barb inside the laugh, which is how satire works. A logical argument clearly will never work with these women, but a satirical thrust can get through because laughter can penetrate deep emotional shields. The other reason behind this is that the women's entitled attitude is deeply wounding to many men. If 80% of women are searching for 10% of men and feel they are settling if they don't get one of the 10%, then the men who aren't in that 10% (often determined by available funds/disposable income, rather than actual wealth, as truly wealthy people don't show off their wealth, so don't seem particularly rich on the surface and superficial assessment is all these women can seem to manage), but who still are well-off and possess good character, are badly affected by all this. One way of dealing with deep psychological pain is to laugh at the cause of it, to make it look stupid, rather than dangerously destructive. Look at how we portray an absolute monster like Hitler: in many case, he's been turned into a joke, often by people who endured WW2 themselves (look at the 'Hitler-related' work of Spike Milligan (shell-shocked in WW2): Adolf is often portrayed as an imbecile and clown, as are the German High Command). It's a form of therapy to help deal with and heal trauma. If you can laugh at something that deeply wounded you, you can start to move on. So I'm not too worried about 'drizzle drizzle.' It's not a waste of time, as it's actually a form of therapy and a satirical answer to a real social problem. And we do get a bit of a laugh out of it, especially if we aren't those entitled women! Satire direct to others is often amusing, but as the infuriated women show, it's not so much fun when you are the target.
