I heard this loud popping sound of cavitation when I was stretching my hamstrings. I was seated with my legs straddled into abduction and stretched over to reach my right toes when I heard a large “pop”. It was painful, however, when I shook it out, everything was ok. Did I manipulate my own hip?

The concept about hip manipulation is a bit of a misconception, you’re not actually manipulating the hip joint, it’s a crazy strong ball and socket joint.. the bodies designed to make pops and clicks and cracks, it’s designed to move.. The sound could’ve been anything… The main thing is you’re not in any pain and everything is fine, any future issues may be worth a consult with a qualified physical therapist.

You can buy yourself a nice cheap mobilisation strap via any online retailer. It doesn’t have to be branded or expensive.
