I bought a 2014 jeep Wrangler sport from a dealership. I did a whole lot of work to it that was flushing and changing all the fluids. I did the differential and there was teeth from the pinion inside the oil I looked, and it was obvious that my angle was way off I guess they put in a 4 inch lift I didn’t change the control alarms so they couldn’t adjust the opinion angle so now I’m probably gonna have to build from rear end starting from housing. It’ll be fun though I can do it off the jeep. With a new rear end Dana 44 housing

Thanks for the video, I have a Wrangler jku with 33-in tires and a stock suspension, going to put on Bilstein shocks and 3" dual rate coil springs, after that we'll have to see how it rides then go the route of an adjustable track bar and adjustable lower control arms if needed. Will leave it to my mechanic to do everything the right way.

Hello! I have a question. I want to buy a 2” budget boost lift kit. Do I have to adjust the pinion angle after lifting the Jeep this height?
@TheBFHGarage
@TheBFHGarage 2 жыл бұрын
People who install a budget boost usually don't have the budget for a full lift. A 2-in budget boost will require longer shocks. It may or may not induce vibrations, but those can easily be handled by adding some flat washers between the skid plate and the frame effectively lowering your transfer case output. Only add enough to make the vibration (if present) go away.

I bought a jeep with a 6” short arm kit I bought a sye and have the drive shaft on order I’m hoping the 6” lift is not to much for road driving once everything is aligned good I’m curious if you know of anyone that has a tj with a 6” lift and daily driven ?

Yeah 6” RC short arm with 4” body lift I’m removing the body lift fixing the rust on the mounts then would like to be able to drive just with the 6” short arm and my sye but keep reading it’s to much height so I may put the jeep on hold till I can find a 4” long arm kit ? If I want to be able to daily drive

I have a question what if you adjust your pinion angles properly but on the front end for example my JL 392 I have a 4 1/2 inch lift on it and if I get my pinion angle adjusted properly on the front my jeep drives all over the road I can’t keep it in the straight line so I’m having a hard time finding an alignment shop that will work with me and I’m trying to do this myself but trying to make it as easy as possible on me, in other words all my control arms are adjustable upper and lower, If I adjust the lower control arms and make them shorter to get the pinion angles proper I’m all over the road so do I adjust my uppers and make them longer does moving the axle Ford slow the steering down etc. I don’t know if any of this makes sense but I’m having real issues with this, my first driveshaft we put in would not work and now I have another driveshaft coming but the only way I can get rid of drive shaft vibration is if my differential is literally parallel to the ground which is definitely wrong can’t run the driveshaft at that angle but again if I get the pinion angles correct I am all over the place I don’t know what the answer is? Any thoughts? Thanks for the video👍👍👍👍

@TheBFHGarage Жыл бұрын
I would recommend posting up pictures on a JL forum. You have to consider caster if you are all over the place like you say. The goal is to eliminate vibrations... So if you did that, then I would think that would be good, but I can't see your Jeep. Again, post up on forums and see what you get.

With leaf springs is it better to have it a couple degrees less due to the flex under load?
@TheBFHGarage
@TheBFHGarage 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah axle wrap changes everything. You'll have to experiment. When I had my CJ's, we would add shims under the springs. It is definitely different coils vs. leafs.

Shouldn’t drive angles on a cardon joint be minimum 0.5 working angle on the drive shaft to keep the needle bearings of the u joint in motion.
@TheBFHGarage
@TheBFHGarage Жыл бұрын
The goal is zero degrees from pinion to driveshaft. That means the driveshaft should be perpendicular to the flat spot on the pinion head at ride height.

Pinion angle over caster? So set the pinion angle and just deal with what the caster ends up being?
@TheBFHGarage
@TheBFHGarage 2 жыл бұрын
For the most part, yes. Your pinion angle needs to be adjust to where there are no more vibrations. When you get to that point, the caster is what it will be. It is usually not off by much, or enough to cause undesired steering behavior. If it does for some reason, then you will need to make an adjustment, but that may bring vibrations back. Another option is to go with a hub kit.

You can not get the pinion angle correct with it up on a lift. When you set it on the ground the angle will change.
@TheBFHGarage

Correct. If you watch the entire video I explain that part of it. The only reason for it being in the air is so people can see what I'm referring to better. But yes, it has to be on the ground.

@@TheBFHGarage I seem to have a steep angle and I might make it worse by adding a bigger shackle. How much of an angle can double cardan support? What is your angle at the transfer case output at ground level?
@TheBFHGarage
@TheBFHGarage 2 жыл бұрын
@@rajeshmarichetti8552 First, I would check with the experts and how much angle your DC can handle. In my case, I have a Tom Woods driveshaft so I would refer to their website or even call them. In the end, the number doesn't matter. You can droop the driveshaft just until it starts to bind and then back it off a little. In my case, I welded my shock mounts on just before DS bind. If you have longer travel shocks, then you can use a limit strap over the pumpkin to keep it from hitting bind while allowing full articulation.
