Thanks for showing that. It's similar to another game i tweaked in much the same way after figuring out text files often contain parameters that you can change to change game experience. I particularly like the idea of being able to turn off hull obsolescence to play with new tech on early hulls. The other big glaring thing i see a need for is what to do to change hull design, from getting rid of those you find just flat out stupid and completely imaginary, to making adjustments so that those which are off a bit from historical hulls and cant fit what historically was on the hull can then can fit what actually was put on the hull, to doing something the game developers promised but failed to deliver- actually playing with hull design to find what length-to-beam ratio and hull contour does to ship performance essentially going through the ins and outs of hull design to find out what doesnt work, what doesnt work well, what works well, and finally what is the ideal hull for maximum performance, just like the 19th and 20th century ship designers and builders went through decade after decade and nation by nation in an evolution of warship design. You should be able to build a ship that just rolls over and starts sinking as soon as the guns train to one side, or a ship that noses down, floods and sinks while tryimg to accelerate, or a ship that blows itself up via gun explosion resulting from poor gun design, etc- the small chance of success with major risk of utter failure in warship design did exist for multiple nations, but the game developers skipped that aspect- it should be there, a bit of trial and error especially early in the game, if only to impress upon people that that era of ship design truly was haphazzard and trial and error, with preponderance of failures early on giving way to experience and lessons learned as decades passed, and with little sharing of information between nations (ship design was treated rather like a state secret, and rather remains so today to an extent for newest designs)- that whole dynamic would add layers of depth to the game.

It is a real shame that the game seems to get updated at least once a week, as it is a bind to have to keep reloading your mods, but they make this game far better, so it is well worth it.

Not something I have tried! I managed to change map colours because those are stored as text but I’ve not found the flag files. If they were loose this would be easy but I suspect they are bundled into an asset file.

4:22 I use Notepad++ for JSONs (well, except for UA's JSONs) but I prefer Sublime for the text files...

Does anyone know what fores you would need to adjust to change build times on ships. Kinda tired of running pocket navies because big ships take forever. It feels like campaigns are alot of clicking and not much action

BrotherMunro, I'm wanting to mod what hulls are unlocked and what are obsolete in my game however I am at a loss as to what every hull IS exactly. One example is I want to make the last two versions of normal Battlecruisers before Modern BC not go obsolete but another example of what I want to do is add Super BCs to other nations if possible. Now, my main question, what hulls are attached to what nation in the files? Oh, and how do I make it so certain guns are available for other hulls?

Ohhhhhh yeah that’s a hot mess 😂 You probably have figured you can change when or if a hull becomes obsolete in technologies. The parts file and the English.lng file are needed to figure out what the ship is actually called and which country has access to it.

Hello, jsut curious, if you remove obsolete hulls, would AI still be building new ones, or stick to the cheaper versions? Don't wan't to make them even more weak =(

anyone knows how to mod provinces owner and/or make the provinces has oil sources?... i've been trying (and failing) for about 2 weeks now tweaking the provinces.txt within the asset file to no avail. Also no such tutorial or "How to" on internet so far... lol... managed well with changing hull displacements, beams & draught limit modifier, nation GDP & growth modifying, changing hulls models... but dang changing Province ownership & making it has oil reserve is a pain T-T.
