One of the more popular swaps known to the Fox platform is swapping the boring AOD automatic transmission for that of a T5. Now granted, we all prefer our own setups, and that's totally fine. But, let's be honest? Bangin' gears in a Fox Mustang is about as American as you can get!
Part 4 of the series will mainly cover prep work before the installation of the T5 transmission. This includes rear main seal replacement, pilot bearing install, and the related clutch components. We also installed a 5.0Resto steel bearing retainer onto our used T5.

Currently doing the exact same swap. If it weren’t for these videos I would have no clue what i’m doing. I’ve completed part 1-3 and now I am on 4. Almost finished with the car and i’m really excited. Thank you LMR

I had this swap done in my '89 notchback, definitely worth it! Most of the necessary parts for the swap came from LMR

I'm not doing this at the moment but i enjoyed watching the videos, i have done this before and you can always pick a tip or 2 watching someone else do it, thank you for putting all this together.

Im doing this swap too. I bought a flywheel had the same casting number earlier to late 5.0. The difference was the pressure plate bolts are space out different. The later 5.0 uses the bolts that are further apart.

i think you put the bearing retainer on wrong- off 90 degrees- small notch on inside goes up

fly wheel is a waste if you haven't turned it. it has hot spots. all itll do is burn up the clutch if not turned.

Does anyone know if the 5.0 engine in the AOD cars produces less hp and torque? I see the ratings are different but is this solely because of the difference in AOD and T-5 Manual. Or is there a difference in the actual engines that came in the auto or manual cars. Thanks!

The ratings of the transmissions are solely based on the units themselves. There were horsepower and torque differences between automatic and manual cars around the CFI era, but this had no effect on the rating of the transmissions. -Landan

What would be the cause of t5 clutch chirp it chirps when the clutch is out but goes away when it's to the floor could it be the retainer the tb or fork/pivot

Trying to do 1966 mustang with 86 AOD swap with 1997 t5 with original bell housing . What flywheel or kit do I need? Do I need a new bell housing and drive shaft?

Would everything in this swap also apply to a TKO 500?
