I kind of suffer from imposter syndrome too. My art style varies by the day. HOWEVER, I also believe that art should be done primarily for the ARTIST'S enjoyment, not for other people. So I do it because I love it, and people follow me because they love what I pour out of my heart; they don't follow me for how marketable it is, they follow me for ME. So pour yourself out! Even if it's a chaotic, inconsistent "mess" sometimes, like we ourselves are at times.

Yes! It seems so silly in hindsight, but rediscovering that art is fun and not just a challenge to be overcome has really changed my life lol.

Your work is wonderful, don't let anyone force you into a "style" your style is an accumulation of everything you do, it shows growth and passion. Our tastes differ all the time and how to approach a topic with whichever medium you want is very flexible and an amazing way to do art! Art for art's sake!

I truly envy how you pick your colors for your underpainting. Because watching you on stream it always seems to be a bit of a random choice, or for whatever is in reach. But the end result is always so vibrant and alive! I love that you can just take what you have and create some amazing pieces with it! Being more lax on color choice is something I really want to work on.

Haha you caught me! It typically is whatever random bright color is within reach. It's been really helping me loosen up, color-wise!

Oh wow, i was just thinking about how I might be the only person in the world who doesn't actually want to find "the one style" :') i love exploring different ways of drawing and i have many favorites!! I love the fact that every page of my sketchbook looks like it was drawn by a different person -- perhaps if my sketchbook survives several centuries into the future, historians of the time might think the same lol. What I draw represents how I subjectively see and feel, and it's natural for me to feel differently in each moment. I let my art symbolize this. The fact I can create wildly different images makes me feel quite skilled and powerful, even.

Happy birthday Bean ❤ Your caption is spot on unfortunately for some reason my seasonal depression starts in March, so here we are. As always I love your art, and your little imposter guy in your head should shut up for real.

I happened upon your video as I was having the exact same thoughts about changing how I draw and paint so often! Isn’t life funny like that sometimes? Perhaps there is no right or wrong way. Art is such a deeply personal thing that it is easy to be self-conscious about it. By judging the art, you judge the core of us. No pressure or anything. 😂 It’s really about enjoying it though. I think following where our creative whims take us can only be a good thing though. It comes from a pure place, don’t you think?

Why would you not want to develop one style?? That way you can be the master. You do all things, you do nothing.

I maybe should have elaborated on this more, but I absolutely don't think developing a personal style (or making that your focus) is bad! It just that the pressure of feeling like I needed to hurry up and pick only one way of doing things was taking away from my ability to enjoy the art-making process. The title of this video was meant to be very tongue-in-cheek and not serious. I'm gonna gently push back on "You do all things, you do nothing". If that philosophy works for you, that's great! But I do think it can be limiting. Let's say someone already considers themselves an accomplished painter but they're very interested in and start making pottery. Should they then quit painting so that they can commit to becoming a "master" of pottery? Should they have never started making pottery in the first place because it distracts from their painting?

I disagree, do all things and you are immensely talented and love to experimentandhave fun!!! I know lots of people with one style but no talent, just saying. Let people create one style or many, both can be amazing!

@@FevercoatStudio it's true. It's something that Hollywood producers told me. People that know the business. People who've made millions of dollars. Not someone who has to have a KZfaq channel to make money or to try to get famous. You know, the people who were famous before that was even a thing. Yes, I got my advice from those people.

@@solarydays how does this not make sense? If an artist does nothing but sketch for 45 years.. lol 😆😆 that's enough. Master sketch artist. You only get to live once anyway.
