How to: Nissan Pathfinder yd25 Engine Rebuild. Because we love our SUV!

In this video I rebuild our 2.5tdi Nissan Pathfinder engine that got damaged as a result of a failed diesel injector.
These yd25 Turbo Diesel engines came in a variety of Nissan vehicles including the Navara, Frontier and Cabstar.
I forgot to mention in the video that I also had the Injectors and Diesel pump reconditioned.

Excellent work and God Bless you that you live near the wilderness like that. I’m in a rough city with gangs and guns and I’d love to get away. I have a 2007 US version 4.0 liter engine no turbo.

The fact that you can take the 2.5TD out without taking the entire front apart makes me want one over the 4.0L I have now...lol

Great job really did enjoy the rebuild fr scratch.i do however believe u need to slow it down abit for us to all have a better understanding.i have NV350 with the YD25DDTI my question is wat is the valve clearance for both intake and exhaust and is it the same as urs? Thx hoping to hear fr u soon.

Thanks for your message! I realise the video is definitely bit fast to follow and not very explanatory. I will be making a second video with a better explanation of the rebuild. As far as valve clearance goes, If I recall correctly it should be .24mm for intake and .26mm for exhaust. Hope it helps!

Excellent work there, I have a Navara ST-R pickup 2.5 YD25 engin but I have a problem with the inside bottom Chain timing which broke inside and broke the aluminium cover. Is it OK to replace with a Navara D40/Petfinder Chain and cover? Will it fit.. Your response will be help full to me

Unfortunately I cannot say for certain as some of these engines have double chains and others single. So the only way to know for sure is to match the old one up with you new sample

Question : Is it any ECU or codes you need to fix if you replace engine from a other car. ? or is it just to swap. ?

It should be a simple swap. Might need to code the injectors and reset the fuel pump regulator for smooth operation. Very simple procedure.

Excellent video. I have a 2006 Navara with 241,000 kms and original injectors, how can you tell or did you know the injector was going bad? Thanks

Thank you! Unfortunately it was only after it broke down that I saw the injector was bad that resulted in the damage it caused to the engine. Usually a bad injector causes black smoke, bad start and bad fuel consumption

@@BroughBuilt thanks for reply. Yeah, the only time I’ve seen that kind of ‘blow torch’ type damage is working on CAT gas engines running too lean.

The video is OK though you needed to be slow on the engine assembly part so that those who have never done this engine before will be able to do it

If the injector did what u are saying the channel you pointed would have started from the hole where the injector seats and it hasn’t . So what u are saying i believe to be false

Hi Ian. Dit was nie nodig nie. Het net die onderste gedeelte van die sump op die kar verwyder om die voorste diff te mis. Toe kon ek die engine versigtig uit haal deur die bonnet.

Thanks! Can't remember exactly but the parts were more expensive than what I'm used to. Somewhere in the region of R16k or $1k. Here in South Africa Nissan parts seem to be rather costly.
