What was that UV in the max nano Red Sea?
@detroithammer88693 жыл бұрын
Thanx Randy, I have a question thou. Can you run a Cor-15 and have a scheduled increase in flow to do both fish pest and algae control from 1 UV?
@BRStv3 жыл бұрын
Functionally, it can be done, but the problem is that bacteria and protozoa reproduce rather quickly, so by effectively turning the UV off to one or the other based on flow rate, the UV will almost certainly be less effective. This is something that we'd have to explore more in the future to know for sure.

Just got back into the hobby and want to do it right the first time. I want to do a UV sterilizer and want to do it on a closed loop from the tank back into the tank. I’m doing a sand bottom. Can I run a small pump that won’t pump up the sand inside the tank?
@BRStv2 жыл бұрын
Definitely! As long as the water gets pumped from the tank, through the UV, and then back to the tank (at the right flow rate), you're good to go 🙂

Dumb question maybe, but won't a slower gpm (50 gpm) kill Both parasites and algae. Any one running a slower gpm have you seen any problems with your algae? Maybe a good test to tryout. Thanks for the videos
@BRStv3 жыл бұрын
Actually they are very different for the job you want them to do. Check out our findings that came from one of our UV Flow experiments and we have another experiment wrapping up as we speak! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jdiWmq52ra-moqs.html
@jackdunn51472 жыл бұрын
The answer to your question Robert is that running the pump at slower rate will not deal with algae because their spores reproduce too quickly. A higher flow would usually be necessary to sterilize the algae before it could reproduce. The manufacturer should have a guide as to which flow rate on a particular unit would be best for what you want to use it for (higher flow rate for algae and a slower for parasites).

I can’t plug the UV sterilizer into the apex EB or it beeps...needs its own outlet
@BRStv3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm...that's really strange! Have you been able to nail down a cause?
@timlaw16123 жыл бұрын
I called and spoke to Pentair many times they are great even face timed to see it in action. I then tried the “killawatt” device, I have two EB and a KW ...I have a separate 20 amp dedicated line to the tank and they say it is because it is a built in warning that only goes off when draining the system. Sent me a new powerpack and told me to plug into the KW. That didn’t work either so now I plug it into a different wall outlet by itself and no beeping. Interestingly it worked fine just beeped low enough to not hear it when busy house but loud enough to only hear it when quiet house!! Haha. It is the 40watt btw.

all you need to do to fix your expensive uv sterilizer is buy an even more expensive apex controller. Just wait till you hear the ten mistakes apex users make and how to buy an uber apex to fix them.

Uv sterilizers arent needed at all, dont want ich in your tank? Qt your damn fish and anything wet that goes into your tank. Simple.
@ReefingwithO3 жыл бұрын
Not all of us can do that. I live in an apartment - hard to find space to quarantine not only fish but inverts and corals as well.

Who is QT snails and coral...please that is some bull. These UV sterilizers are a great addition or you can just go natural and let nature take its course orrrrr but already QT fish but still have issue with inverts

@@timlaw1612 you just gotta QT your inverts for 40 days, i used the same tank to QT fish as i did for fish just use cuprisorb to remove all the copper.
