I love this way or organizing… unless I get halfway thru, and decide to go to bed, and then regret leaving it out for the kids to get into in the morning😆

Maybe you could do another one? And show us around again...I know my space changes every year...keep making it better to suit our needs for every season. BTW: Does your highschooler sit there with you all or is he off on his own?

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you doing this helpful! My high schooler does not sit in the dining room with us. He does his work in our basement office, at a desk with the computer (my husband works from home in the same room) or he works in his bedroom at his own desk. We do morning time together in our living room, though. So I’ve done a couple of Videos since then. I did a few homeschool room videos last year explaining how I organized our curriculum and supplies (2 separate videos) and then I just did a room org this year (2 videos ago). I think these are all in our homeschool organization playlist. Is there something different from there that you wanted to see?

I loved this! I basically organize the same way and go though the same process every year organizing my homeschool space and supplies! And yes! Uniform boxes/baskets is a MUST for me. If it doesn't match or coordinate it drives me crazy visually.

Elaine A i love that you can relate!!! We get each other! Curious....bc you are so well organized, do you find it difficult to throw things out? (Bc you can organize them into the rest?! I may have to do some more tapering down. As I was filming, I cleared out a crate in one of my tables bc it was too much clutter -you probably didn’t. Notice it was in a couple shots and then disappeared. 😄 I need more things to disappear! I learned the hard way on the uniformity....bc I also LOVE all the colors!!! And then I realized, I love color, but not the rainbow look. So I’m slowly starting to taper the things out. If you mastered that from the beginning, KUDOS to you!!!

Our Homeschool Plan I don’t have a hard time letting things go 😀 My motto with that is if I have less stuff I have less I have to deal with and organize and KEEP organized! I’m definitely not minimalistic when it comes to homeschool supplies b/c my kids love hands on things to learn with and we have a wall of bookshelves too. But every year I try to give away some stuff we have outgrown or haven’t used in ages. I have two littles though so sometimes I do keep stuff I think I’ll use with them when the time comes. Yep. I started out with all the colors! And through the years have changed over bins and baskets to neutral colors!

When do you find the time to pull out all the things? With school, activities, meals, kids needs etc....when do you find the time to focus on all the things with the kids close by (and interested in everything you are sorting)? My kids are ages 2-7. Thanks!

When my kids were your age, I asked my husband to take them away so I could get organized. So he’s take them to run errands with him, or on a days outing. But also…with kids this young, you don’t need all these things either. Your 7 year old would have the most. And it wouldn’t be a lot. I hope that answers your question.

my morning basket on the kitchen table turned into the household catch all 😬
@OurHOMEschoolPlan
@OurHOMEschoolPlan 3 жыл бұрын
That happened to me also. I tried to have a morning crate on the table and it ended up being where to throw things when we needed the table cleared. I moved the crate to the floor behind a chair and i pull it out when we need to use it. So that is less of an issue now. ;) maybe you can try that!?

Do you have a video on LA manipulatives/games? Math comes easier for me. Also you do have a beautiful home and ample space to hide/store things. I think we will need to rotate and store resource/chapter books in our attic because my bookshelves are full. Eek! I also organized Barbie things and labeled/ alphabetized my personal book collection including pockets and check out cards.😉

I tried the whole rotation once. It could work for books also if you have avid readers and overflowing shelves!!! :) I do not have a video on LA manipulatives but I’ve thought about it. My spelling video has SOME ideas for practicing spelling. But the video is mostly about the curriculum, “A Reason for Spelling.”

@@crystaljordan7318 did you see one in my language cabinet? I can’t remember if it was shown. It’s called silly sentences. It’s fun. By DK games. This isn’t the version I have. The one I have is $60 on amazon and I did NOt pay that. But this looks similar. amzn.to/3wcPJ7H

@@crystaljordan7318 you’ve got your hands full!! (And your heart also, I’m sure!) 😉 My girls really enjoy playing this game! So it does help reinforce the parts of speech. Another we do is choose a simple sentence. “The girl ran.” Now add an adverb. How did she run. Now add an adjective. What kind of girls is she? We do this in conjunction with writing to help is spruce up our sentences. So since we’ve done IEW in the past, we’ve been introduced to “banned words”. The words good and bad are not allowed. You must use more description. Like instead of bad, stinky or decrepit. Etc. they are also not allowed to use “said.” So instead of that word, giggled, whispered, squeaked…. So sometimes our simple sentence starts with a banned word so they can change it. And in the end, we all have different sentences. :).

My problem is making time to organize, i want to organize things in my home and i know how, I have seen so many videos to know how, but I spend so much with cleaning, cooking, homeschooling and mothering that i dont get to my organizing projects. I guess I need help organizing my time. I really need help!
@OurHOMEschoolPlan
@OurHOMEschoolPlan 3 жыл бұрын
I completely relate to this also!! I think sometimes it’s the stage of life we’re in. When kids are older and their efforts to help can really start keeping things tidy, or they can really start helping with dinner, our time will free up a bit. For me, I determine, “this week, I’m going to tackle this project.” And I tell my husband so he doesn’t expect everything else to be kept up with. Maybe he, himself pitches in bc he wants things organized also. I also have to have a plan to keep my kids busy. So what can they do while I’m working? Otherwise, more messes will be made. And I’ve also been known to take a day or two off of school to tackle something like this. It needs dedicated time sometimes. 😉 hope that helps.

My life is weird but here goes... we homeschool at my home and my sons dads house so we are going back and forth. The Michaels tote organizer is great but doesn't fit binders and doesn't hold everything. What's the best way to be organized but also portable?
@OurHOMEschoolPlan

Have you ever looked into “31 tote bags?”
@OurHOMEschoolPlan
@OurHOMEschoolPlan 2 жыл бұрын
When I used to travel weekly to classical conversations as a tutor, I had a lot to transport, and I used these bags. They can hold a lot and are sturdy. They have some utility totes (a little smaller) that I think can even fit file sizes. And then there are lots of pockets on the outside to organize other supplies you may need to organize. I know the larger totes that I’ve used, can definitely fit binders. Also…lots of homeschoolers that travel to co-ops with lots of books use rolling bins…(I think that’s what they’re called) so pulling all the books on wheels. I’ll see if I can find something on Amazon and link for what I’m talking about.
