Fasting, including voluntary fasting, is an amazing antidote to all sorts of substance and behavioural addictions, down to things like overeating, blabbering nonsense, coffee, sugar, etc. Everyone has "vices", fasting at its primal level of food and drink deprivation, has a huge immaterial (spiritual) impact. All praise to God Subhan Allah wal hamdulillah.

"blabbering nonsense" aka verbal diarrhea is actually one of the lesser-known addictions. "Spinning yarns" they call it. Just coming up with elaborate false events. The true addiction here is attention.

I have Been Addict to cigarettes for past 13 years but earlier this month i decided to become non smoker. And Alhamdulillah Its going great. What i did was When ever i feel the urge to Smoke cigarette i would say Ashtaghfar for 10 times. It takes 5 seconds and its extremly effective it shifts my mindset almost immediatley. I have tried to leave cigarettes before aswell but It has never been this easy. I started doing it own my own and this video helped me further understand why Doing astaghfar right when i am feeling the urge to smoke has been so effective. Please Pray for me to keep me on this path and If someone is looking to change This is a very effective method. You can give it a go.

When he talked about charity, the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, was the most generous of people in Ramadan, and he was like a blowing wind. And when the Qur’an spoke about our master Jesus, son of Mary, may the prayers of my Lord be upon him, and when it spoke about the cradle as a boy, it would say, “And he enjoined upon me prayer and zakat as long as I live.” How beautiful it is to pay zakat in its proper place, like the people of Gaza, Mauritania, Yemen and Somalia, even if it is a little. What Bediuzzaman says about worship is "Sincerity in worship is this, that it is performed only because it is commanded, although it comprises numerous instances of wisdom [and benefits]. Each of these may be a reason ('illa) for performing worship, but sincerity makes it imperative that the [true] reason be the command to perform it. If the wisdom or benefit is made the reason, the worship is null and void, but if it merely encourages the person to perform the worship, it is permissible. Signs of Miraculousness - 163" So sincerity or ihlas is the key. May Allah bestow us real sincerity.

One of Buddhisms four noble truths "Desire is the root of all suffering". Unwholesome desires regardless of sources can result in suffering. While I appreciate the topic of discussion, it's not necessarily a revolutionary idea to control ones mind, habituations and addictions through faith. Mediation is an exercise in dopamine tempering and a foundation of Buddhist practice.

Some say sugar addiction is actually WORSE... The effects from ❄️ 👃🏽 are immediately recognizable, and any half-intelligent person will realize "hey this doesn't belong in my body..." The effects from too much🍬🧃 are very "mundane" at first. You won't enjoy a lollipop and suddenly gain a pound. And you won't go into a sugar-seizure after one glass of juice. Prolonged daily exposure to high levels of sugar can really mess with a person's mind. It's actually quite scary
