Packing your gear for a multi-day hike has to be one of the funnest parts of prepping for a trip. The excitement of impending departure, the nerves of this being the last chance to pack something or the last opportunity to leave something behind & the enjoyment of putting all that research into action & getting to use all your fancy hiking gear!

Wow, those pack weights made my eyes water! So much gear. But it is a lovely hike and you seemed to have a good time. Well done. I am doing it again in a couple of weeks. You might be amused that I, a 70 year old pensioner did the hike late last year in 2 nights with a pack with a trail weight of around 8kg. Not so fast this year as I am doing a yoyo over 8 nights. Nice and slow. I just love the views and pleasant trails. And of course meeting the odd hiker as well. I liked your video, especially as I understand that you had to carry all that extra gear. I could never do that.

When you say as a general rule not to exceed 20% of you body weight. Is that the base kit or base kit + food & water?

not sure if ill get a response but, i noticed it looked like you had Kennewick boots. i also have them for working but i fear they will be to hot for a big hike. i dont want wet feet in sweat. do i have to buy different shoes or boots? i love my boots, but after a hot day at work, my feet are damp with sweat and i dont think that would be good on a hike... just need a little advice
