Here's a few camping essentials you may want to send with your camper: bit.ly/kidcampstuff
How to pack for summer camp, special needs camp packing. This is how we pack for Abbie when she is headed to camp. Because she is nonverbal autistic we have to take that into account when we plan for her camp week. We also want to make it as easy as possible for her buddy at camp so they can focus on having fun.

I go to a 2 weeks camp every summer with a regular scout group, but I'm autistic and need some help sometimes so my scouters know about my needs, too. I've finally learnt to pack my own bag, but I do it like you. I'm not "aware" of how clothes match so I just pack full outfits with the help of my mother. We're located in Spain.

My son has pulmonary hypertension and sees a specialist at the Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. He went to Camp Joy in Clarksville, Ohio for the first time this year during Heart Institute week. I used the ziplock bags for all of his clothes and toiletries. I also made sure to put his initials on everything. He loved his first year of camp. He also loves watching your videos with me.

I worked at a camp like Camp I am special in Little Rock Arkansas for 6 years summer and on weekends during the school year Camp Aldersgate. Initial everything they owner while at camp this help tremendously to make sure that everything gets back to owner and I hated writing on kids clothes if didn’t have parents permission but that was part of our checking process was to initial and inventory everything. Families that packed clothes in baggies were my favorite makes life so easy. Also if you are really love your staff at camp writing a list of what all you brought with the child does wonders especially if you are packing in baggies.

Aw, I loooove Abbie’s smile showing off all her signs! That girl is the best. Priscilla, my mom had me, her neurotypical kid going to Girl Scout camp every summer and my sister, her type 1 diabetic child who went to a juvenile diabetes camp every summer, and the ziplock trick is exactly how she packed us both every year! Especially with my sister’s medical needs, having everything organized and together was so helpful.

I’m in my 30s and went to sleep away camp a lot growing up and my mom would pack my full outfits in plastic bags and usually put a card or maybe a surprise like a bracelet hidden in the middle.

Abby is such a sweetheart and growing up very fast! Camp will be awesome for her especially as her brother is there too, (Happy campers) .. The way you pack her outfits in ziplock bags is something I was doing for my children back in the 90’s and now my children are doing it for their children, such a simplistic thing to do ... Have lots of date nights!!

I only know the alphabet in ASL and that's as far as I've gotten haha but Abbie's modded signs I've learnt are car, hi/bye, go, pretzel, music, food, candy, golfcart, bathroom, break, open, swing, thank you, goldfish, cookie, fly, drink, come here and thumbs up. I love learning Abbie's signs and while they might be slightly different, you still understand what she's saying :D

My daughter Hailey is 11 and she hors to a special needs day camp, they go on trips every day, an indoor water park, a fun plex We Rock The Spectrum, bowling, and on Fridays they help the local theater kids group with their play and put on a separate show for the campers families. She loves going. Thinking of maybe an over night camp next year. Will have to search around our area, we are in NJ, for next summer. Your vhannel is awesome and I always look forward to your pists and vlogs!!

They are some awesome tips, just even for any vacation... I like how you put each thing in a ziplock bag .. as a paraplegic this would be helpful for me so that i can just pick one ziplock bag with all my clothes in it for the day, and also have seperate ones as you showed for other things.. this was so helpful to me.. as a paraplegic it be so helpful, as trying to find things and your suitcase gets messy as you try to go through it looking for stuff.. this was a great video.. thank you so much. Abbie is going to have so much fun.. and she is with her big brother Isaiah.. I am so glad that he gets to go and help out.. I know he loves to do things like this.. he has such a big heart and has such a compassion for people.. Enjoy mom and dad and get out there and go lay on the beach and relax.. love you guys

I worked at a camp for people with disabilities for a few years and my biggest tip is to make sure that you don’t send anything of value unless necessary. Camps about having fun and things get broken and lost, so be ready for it. Also, sending a designated laundry bag will help to keep the campers room clean and things sorted rather than all over the cabin.

They used the bags both ways; when they took off their clothes at night time, they put them back into the Ziploc and then into a laundry bag to bring home for washing. Lost so many fewer clothes this way too!💖👍☺
