As with all luthier work to be done, I highly suggest you do a lot of research before allowing anybody to touch your guitar.
I'm a guitar player first and a bender installer on the side, even though it's kind of become my main gig now.
But one thing rings true with anybody you decide to use to have install parts. Or to repair your guitar by mail. You need to make sure the bridge saddles stay put. Otherwise you can have a disastrous reaction when you open the box back up.
I have personally seen a guitar that had bridge saddle screws floating freely inside the box, and it was a absolute nightmare of epic proportions.
I am exaggerating a little bit because we are talking about a guitar but... If you absolutely love the instrument that you're sending off to have somebody do work to, You better be sure that everything goes smoothly in shipping to and from that individual.
2 inches of bubble wrap is the minimum for any insurance claims. If something goes wrong with shipping. I'm not saying this to scare you because I've shipped hundreds of guitars all over the world, after I've done bendor installs, and never had a problem. Accept that one guitar 15 years ago. That got shipped to Germany and the box got destroyed, and the guitar got a nasty gouge in the back, and they never got the insurance claim. But I gave them a $100 refund regardless.
This is just food for thought if you get a guitar from somebody like guitar center or sweetwater or musician's friend. They bulk ship thousands of instruments a day so they don't really care if something gets broken because they're margins are so high. It doesn't pay for them to pay for shipping insurance.
But if you are shipping, one of your guitars. Or I am shipping a guitar back to you after a B Bender. Or G Bender or double B & G bender install. Then you bet I'm going to pay that extra insurance. Because we need to make sure that we are covering our... shipments.
I truly appreciate all of you. We have a great thing here. We can play music, any genre! punk, metal, rock, country, soul, R&B, Classical and whatever other ones people think are music.
one thing in common is, we have benders to accomplish the seemingly impossible.
And it would remain impossible to play without a Bender. So, remember that the next time somebody says "oh I can do that with my fingers". Yeah maybe not...
