How to Package your Old iPhone for Trade in

In this video, I show you how to properly wipe your old iPhone clean and package it up to send back to Apple. If you've signed up for their upgrade or trade-in program you'll have to go through these steps to send Apple your old iPhone. I'm a visual learner and I feel that doing step-by-step instructions with video makes it easier for people to learn how to package their old iPhone up to send back to Apple for Apple's iPhone trade-in program.

Another suggestion is to take pictures of your trade in…so you have a record what the condition of your phone…also take pictures of the label and the box after you have sealed it..as well as a picture of the tracking number..doesn’t hurt to have proof..🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks for the video. And a special thanks to you for reminding me to remove the sim card from the phone. So, I'm watching you slip the phone in the plastic so smooth and my Iphone 10 just won't go in like that. But I finally got the phone in. Now, after struggling to get the phone inside the plastic I then realize I got to take the phone back out to get the sim card. Now what you should have reminded my ignant butt to do is the remove the dang case. I didn't discover that until I went looking for the sim card slot. lol. Anyway, I got it packed up and shipped. It was not difficult to figure out how to package it for return but my small return box did not come equipped with a plastic sleeve, so I put my iPhone in a small zip baggie and placed it in between cardboard flap lid. Also my iPhone return label is prepaid via FEDEX not UPS.

Box I received a couple of weeks ago does not have the plastic sleeve. It has the coardboard insert but no sleeve. Also no tamper proof tape. The label has changed in that you pull off the old label and the return lable is underneath.

Mine had the slidy-hole sealed over and no graphic on the box on where the phone went. I ripped the plastic off only to realize it was important. Just ended up using a ton of bubble wrap instead.

I know it's not in the instructions that come with the return kit explicitly, but Apple's online instructions say to insert the phone into the insert with the screen up. Go figure.

When you order they automatically take off the amount of money from the bill. When they get the return back they inspect it and if it differs from the condition you said it was then they talk to you. If not they continue with the return and all is good. If there is a change or no phone returned they do a charge back.

@@DIYReid mine is damaged so I though maybe they can recycle it. It's not bad just a bit of the corner got cut off but it did it's job and protected the iPhone.
